Seriously? A full hour and no one has started a thread?

It's that time again. Spring Training is over and the games count now.

We got Eovaldi on the hill going against the Orioles. Kind of a boring offseason, but all of the mini moves seem to have made a pretty solid team. No idea if they can compete with the Jays/Yankees/Rays - but hopefully they're playing meaningful ball in September.

LET'S PLAY BALL!

Even having watched a good number of spring training games I still feel like I don't know this team, but I look forward to getting more acquainted with them as the season goes on. That process might as well start with a
WIN!

Was totally out to lunch last season, but going to try and get back on the train this year. I have no idea what to expect, but that’s part of the fun. Seems like classic early April weather, but at least it should stop raining by game time.

And yeah, have to hope Pedroia’s throwing out the first pitch!

We stared out the window and waited for Spring.

It's here. I can't speak to how the season will go, but I can say that Opening Day is up there with Thanksgiving for the best days of the year. Nothing ruins that for me...except a rain out.

Get off on the right foot and surprise some folks.

Dammit. Forecast looked like steady rain wrapping up around noon, hit or miss showers after that. They’ve played in worse. And likely can’t clear my afternoon tomorrow either. Argh.

Could that be an April Fools joke? The forecast looks like it should clear up around game time.

Well, that’s a bummer.
Really caught off guard by it as well, for DFS/betting purposes I track some excellent weather services and people that specialize in MLB forecasts, and there was (still isn’t) anything that would have indicated a threat of postponement. Oh well...guess I can wait one more day for them to heat up on the O’s.

They build the off-day into the schedule for exactly this reason. Why play today with even a threat of rain (not to mention a wet field) when they can wait 24 hours and do it in better weather and field conditions? I give them credit for calling it off early enough that folks attending probably aren't that far into their trip if they've even left the house at all. They usually don't have the luxury of doing that most of the time.

I'm so glad they announced this right AFTER I asked people to move a meeting to tomorrow that was going to conflict with the game.

You know, now that you mention it, there is one guy in the meeting who I am surprised that he said he was available. He's LDS. The rest of us are either heathens, Greek or Jewish.

They will probably do more than one "first pitch" but I do know that part of the first pitch ceremony will include some local health care workers.

I think they really want the beautiful photo and optimistic vibes of sun-drenched Fenway and the players lined up in the whites. Today's weather would be playable, but with the off-day tomorrow and a much better forecast — mid-40s, sunny — why push it?

I suppose it could be worse. Mets at Nationals cancelled for Nats COVID and no make up date. Bad way to start for the Nats to start their season. The player who tested positive has to do 10 days.

Dubious postponement. They're playing in the snow in Detroit. I really hope it's not all about optics as suggested upthread.

All the games are on free on Directv starting at 720. Travis Shaw just took a bases loaded walk to score the first run for the Brewers vs. Maeda. Don't know if JBJ is in the lineup.
Correction: JBJ on the bench today.

For the record, it hasn’t rained a drop here since ~11am, although it’s definitely cloudy and chilly.

I guess I’m glad they didn’t chance a slick outfield with the off day tomorrow — but I really can’t remember a PPD for such mild weather.

anyway, win tomorrow!!

It's so raw out here in WMA--not raining but cold and windy. I don't want to be outside for longer than going down to get the mail. I surely wouldn't want to play sports or worse, sit outside in the stands today.

My meeting for 3 PM today got postponed until 3 PM tomorrow. Great.

The president of the LDS called on all LDS members to fast on Good Friday so maybe the said he was available because he had nothing better to do since he couldn’t eat.
