    The Greatest of All Time

I think if you could take one quarter back for one game or one season you can’t go wrong with any of these:   -Montana -Young -Manning -Brady -Rodgers   For a multi-year run, I’d remove Young and Montana just because of their relative fragility compared to the others.   For career, it’s...

Who's held the NBA Championship Belt?

If playoff performance were included and properly weighted, I imagine Duncan would be the guy from 2001-3 and maybe 2002-4. Jordan would probably surpass Malone in '96-'98, maybe Pippen too from '95-97.   I'm pleased that Kobe's best 3-year run is only 3rd.

    2014-5 Cavs: Greatest offense ever?

There was a typo when I started this thread. I was obviously referring to the 2015-6 Cavs.

    Week 9 Game Thread

I hate to say it, but this is the best 2-game stretch ever, right? 12 TDs? 0 INTs? ~900 YARDS? WTF????

Who'd you pick first for the next 10 years?

Didn't Howard have major back surgery once he left Orlando?

Who'd you pick first for the next 10 years?

I was expecting more of this. I understand and maybe even agree with the pro-Anthony Davis crowd, but...   I don't think it's unreasonable to think that LeBron next 5 seasons will be somewhere in between, say, Peak-Jordan and Peak-Bird. He'll start declining, and during his first serious...

Brad Stevens named Celtics head coach

Just a minor point about the Spurs...   It's true that the Spurs have the best basketball structure of the modern era (seemingly perfect skill development, roster management, rest, preparation, offensive and defensive system, etc.), but this often leads people to underrate the talent on the...

Who'd you pick first for the next 10 years?

If you could take any player at a max contract for the next 10 seasons, who'd it be?   Point Guards: Wall? Westbrook? Rose? Curry?   Wing LeBron? Clearly the best player, but how many more seasons will he be the best? He's only turning 30 years old at the end of the year, but he's already at...

    Uber-hyped Anthony Davis' first game:   36 minutes 26 points (10-22 FG; 6-9 FT) 17 rebounds (9 OFF; 8 DEF) 9 blocks (!!!) 3 steals 2 assists 0 turnovers 1 foul +19 +/-   Against the Magic, sure, but holy shit. That's vintage Hakeem.

    2014-5 Cavs: Greatest offense ever?

Perhaps. Although conversely, it's a lot easier to defend when so many of your opponent's possessions start by taking the ball out of bounds. And it doesn't appear the Nash-Suns had any problems on offense despite a porous defense.     You're right that transition offense was a big reason why...

    2014-5 Cavs: Greatest offense ever?

Another related question:   Just considering offensive, could LeBron have a better pairing of 2 stars than Love and Irving? Based on age, position, and set of skills, it's hard to see a better offensive trio.   Love seems the like perfect companion, given his range, passing, rebounding, size...

    2014-5 Cavs: Greatest offense ever?

Question 1: What are the greatest offensive teams in the "modern" era (let's say since the 3pt line)? '86 Celtics, '87 Lakers, '05 Suns, a recent Spurs or Heat team, or some other team? Question 2: What shared characteristics do these teams have? What was unique about each? Question 3: How...
