How good are Fangraphs Predictions (2023 Edition)

They have day by day season win total projections that factor in injuries and trades so the data is out there. This was the projected win loss the day after the 2023 trade deadline. Looks like in theory someone could go back to 2016 if they wanted to...

    Jordan Montgomery signs with Arizona

And if his medicals look that bad then you claiming the Sox should have easily topped that offer makes no sense.

    Jordan Montgomery signs with Arizona

If he has a bad year or is hurt but still makes at least 10 starts then he gets at least 20 million in 2025. There's basically no scenario where he's bad enough that he doesn't make 10 starts, so unless he misses nearly the entire season to injury he absolutely has that cushion.

One answer that he didn't have to google to come up with. Just for fun, Bill Mueller is also a current coach for the Marlins, so he's probably equally as not likely to be there.

Robo strikezone: Not as simple as you think -- Baseball Prospectus

Managers can't see any of the other things they challenge either so why shouldn't they be able to challenge balls and strikes? They aren't going to have unlimited challenges, and there will be a downside to being wrong, so if the manager makes a bad decision to challenge that's on them.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

NBA has a similar policy, probably every sport does. No offshore or illegal gambling and no betting at all on anything you're working or have insider info related to.

Are the risks of "Max Effort" worth the cost?

Most Americans don't make more than 750k in their lives? Nevermind that there are plenty of guys who make MLB rosters and are up and down and don't last a full season.

    2023-2024 General NBA Season Thread

I'd be stunned if he's still playable in the NBA, it's a nice story but g league stats mean absolutely nothing other than he can hit wide open 3s and doesn't need to play defense because no one there does.

Brayan Bello signed to a 6 year, $55 million extension

Paying more now, when they have the tax space, but no realistic path to likely contention even if they spent it on free agents, in order to save money down the line, makes a ton of sense even if it doesn't buy out too much of free agency.

    3/5 @ Cleveland

This is completely wrong, the ball was barely hitting the rim when the clock stopped at .7, after that it bounced up, then hit the rim again before zinger touched it.

    3/5 @ Cleveland

Logic would dictate that when they looked at the replay they saw that without the challenge the clock goes to 0 before Zinger touches the ball so therefore no "possession", but I'm not sure if that's actually addressed in the rule book or they just flipped a coin since those don't always seem to...

    3/5 @ Cleveland

Clock starts on the tip, not on possession, the shot clock starts on possession, but that's not relevant here. Logically the clock shouldn't go to 2.1 since without the foul at worst there's a rebound attempt at around .7 since that's when the ball hit the rim, but I'm not sure what exactly the...
