Sons of Peter McNeeley- Boxing Thread

Agreed. He is fun. And it looks to me that he is the fighter that everyone is saying. His footwork looked really good, and he changes his angles seamlessly (to my unpracticed eye, anyway.) I didn't expect to like it, but I even enjoyed the (mild) showboating. I would love to hear someone's...

2017 Gold Cup: Our B team is better than your B team

I enjoy this team. I like the young players showing up, I like revitalized Jozy, I like Clint as a super sub. Say what you will about the Gold Cup, but you play for the trophy in front of you. It was an enjoyable tournament. Now we can get back to stressing about WC Qualifying...

Steven Wright- ace up the sleeve... Amiright?!?!?

I was not able to tell the difference between the different pitches using the 'rewind' function of my DVR, if that's what you're suggesting; but I am not a major league ball player. We do have some experts here, who often point out minor things in stance, delivery, release that I find...

Steven Wright- ace up the sleeve... Amiright?!?!?

(Thanks for the joke - I have been wanting to make it since April, but I didn't think it would be (w)right...) Watching the game on Sunday - the commentators spent a good bit of time talking about the significant mechanical differences between throwing a knuckleball, and throwing a fastball -...

    ESPN Is Pathetic

It is. Well written, even-handed, and pretty thoughtful. Thanks - I would not have seen it if you didn't point it out.

    Manning Legacy: Scrotal Recall

After watching Manning's "interview", and comparing it to Brady's initial DFG press conference, you can see the difference that a carefully-crafted and coached media personna can make. Manning masterfully handled the questions - deflecting or ignoring the ones that didn't drive his narrative...

    Joe Posnanski: Lord of Lists

He makes me think of (pre-2004) Mariano Rivera. Hitters knew that cut fastball was coming...

    Improving the NFL Viewing Experience

I would love to control the overlay. Even if it was only a couple of different options. I have less of an opinion about the 'standard' broadcasts, though; unless the Pats are on, we tend to watch RedZone. I enjoy it although my wife complains because she has a hard time following the transitions.

    Major SOSH Upgrade, November 2015

    I got it - thanks!

    Major SOSH Upgrade, November 2015

I get a "404" when I go to the subscription announcement. Is that just me, or are others seeing it as well? I have lurked for about a decade - I figure it is time to ante up.

    #DFG: Canceling the Noise

I have been reading Klosterman for an embarrassingly long time. Sadly, much like Simmons, his voice hasn't really changed. This could have been the Rolling Stone(?) article about Britney Spears - complaining about access, expecting the subject to validate his own 'deep thoughts' on their...

Jones, Hightower, and Collins - You Pick

I was giggling so hard, I was getting weird looks in O'Hare. Also - it was pretty interesting how quickly he disengaged with his blocker on those run plays. For the knowledgable among us - is that something that he sees happening in the backfield, and plans; or is he just reacting to the runner...

    10/31 weekend

That last assist was a thing of beauty. I loved the announcers dialog as Lukaku was coming off after that masterful performance: "If Messi has delivered that, we'd be raving." (pause) "So let's rave anyway." (pause) "I think we have"

Who do you follow- roll call

Everton.   It may be the Klinsmann effect, but I have not been that diligent following the USMNT recently.  I make the time to watch Everton though, even when the results have been pretty similar...

    Chad Finn: Underrated

Chad - that was a great piece. Thank for reviving that memory. I was in Pensacola, and my wife had threatened to stop watching the playoffs with me. I actually went and got her to come back and watch when Pedro went in.

    Week 5 NFL Game Thread

    1. Nothing is ever wrong with some Frankie. 2. Stop doing whatever you are doing, and watch the Big Lebowski right now.

    2015 Women's World Cup

I was going to complain that it was 11 on 10 and against the third string (?) goalie, but that was a sweet shot.

Why Do I Continue to Read Peter King?

I think that another reason is that they are a lot less likely to get called out for the sloppiness / bad data / incorrect facts in a podcast than they would if something were written down.  Fisking a podcast is not as fun, nor as easy as fisking an article.   For a while, I was afraid that PK...

Raiders and Chargers add Disney CEO Bob Iger to help convince NFL for relocation (11/11)

I completely agree with you regarding public funding, but taxes paying for stadiums is pretty close to the opposite of capitalism.
