    Non-Patriots Free Agency News 2024

As I went to go see the cap implications of the retirement, maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like he just seriously screwed over the Rams. This hit the wire this morning: https://www.si.com/nfl/rams/news/los-angeles-rams-aaron-donald-contract-restructure-salary-cap However, wouldn't...

A Reunion: Brissett back in New England. 1 year, $8 million

That's why I figured it'd be 2 with a fake 3rd for bonus dumping. After all, right now, he's the presumptive starter, even if they land Maye or Daniels. Either way, he's exactly who was needed - competent, classy, willing to work alongside young QBs.

A Reunion: Brissett back in New England. 1 year, $8 million

I can't believe he took just a single year contract, but for the team, I'm thrilled. I expected a 2nd year would be necessary, and a 3rd for bonus dumping. Welcome back, Jacoby!

Who starts Week 1 at QB for the Patriots?

Really hoping Jacoby comes home with a sweetened deal over what LVR, ATL or other QB-hungry teams could offer. We have it, and should spend it (3 years, 20M guaranteed total cash, mostly bonus, third year for dumping bonus to future cap by which time #NEWQB is ready).

    Macksonville: Mac Traded to Jaguars

Thrilled that Mac is gone, and I expect he'll be cut by the end of camp, but he compares pretty wildly well with Trevor! As cited by a Redditor: Jones - 42 starts, 18-24 W-L, 66.1%, 6.8 YPA, 212 YPG, 46 TD, 36 INT, 15 FMB, 85.8 rating Lawrence - 50 starts, 20-30 W-L, 63.8%, 6.7 YPA, 235 YPG...

That dog will hunt; Henry back to Patriots on 3/27M deal

As usual, ostensibly a 2 year deal with a small hit to let him go in year 3 if he falls apart. I do think it's a solid signing. Get Pharaoh back too, and get a fullback that can play TE in a pinch, and we're back in business.

    Misc. Pats Offseason News

Calvin Anderson's mysterious illness remains mysterious, as I don't think there's ever been a specific revelation about what infliction ailed him. But as of yesterday, he's making promo videos in Dubai, so...he's back, baby! View: https://twitter.com/THE_CONDA25/status/1765116943261164009

    Patriots' 2024 Free Agency Thread

They have enough cap space to add at least 4 high-priced FAs, and 2-3 additional serviceable players. They need to replace QB1, TE1, TE2, LT, RT and upgrade WR/Edge. With the draft, they're likely to add 2-3 starters, probably on the offensive side of the ball. I'd slot Henry into the high-price...

    What is next for BB?

I would've very surprised. I can't remember this ever happening in the NFL. I could definitely see him hired as a consultant for a team struggling defensively, but not to take over mid-season.

    HOF Class of 2024

And how many this year's HoF finalists were also members of the Four Horsemen? (no, I don't think that really mattered, but maybe it kept him in consciousness of some voters a little longer)

Alex Van Pelt named Patriots OC

About as reliable as a Fox News viewer poll. Preaching to the converted.

    Tom Brady is retired

Definitely doesn't take playing experience to be a good lead announcer. Kevin Harlan is making a run for GOAT announcer across all sports, and Ian Eagle, Jason Benetti, even Kenny Albert and Spero Dedes (who get the crap games) are better than Burkhardt.

    Tom Brady is retired

I generally enjoy Olsen's color work, but the lead he's been paired with, Kevin Burkhardt, is the definition of replacement level. Fox really has problems with their booth talent, paling to CBS across the board.

Official Patriots 2024 Draft Pick Watch Thread (#3)

I think the Bears are going to take MHJ with 1st pick overall, and here's why: - Bears are bullish. Beating the Lions late, and generally playing better after their defensive revamp midseason, they likely feel like they're a weapon away. MHJ is that weapon. If Fields shits the bed, so be it -...

That was then: Celebrating what was

While all the talk has been about the slow dissolution of KC's receiving threats, their defense has been far, far better this year than previous, their running game is legit (so ball control is as much a part of their game as anything), their young receivers have improved over last year, and...

    Harbaugh to LAC

Kelce has declined over the course of this season, and more than ever before, KC's offense has looked mortal. Their defense is quite improved and has kept them in. By no means am I suggesting that Mahomes is a sham that's only good because he's had top receivers, but all QBs need go-tos. I saw a...

    What is next for BB?

All of these, plus gaining hubris.

    What is next for BB?

That's the problem. It's the combination of out in the open AND under the hood AND the yearly threat of the transfer portal. Some players are preferring to take the risk that their talent + private coaching/training will offset what they lose in consistent practice and game experience towards...

    Misc. Pats Offseason News

A slight nitpick here - WR and OL are a lot closer in value than you might think. 2024 numbers haven't been set yet, but Over The Cap projects the OL franchise figure to be $55K more than the WR figure: https://overthecap.com/franchise-transition-and-rfa-tenders It's interesting that DE and DT...

    The next OC?
