    Joe Posnanski: Lord of Lists

Okay. I love Pos' writing. Love his columns. But I can't help think his legacy will be defined by his "work" on Paterno. The latest: apparently some court documents recently surfaced that showed Joe Paterno knew about Sandusky molesting children as early as 1976. I just...I don't know what to...

    Garin Cecchini

Just when I open my big mouth...     Cecchini apparently had shoulder inflammation in April, so maybe he's been bothered by the injury throughout May. He's gone through a mini-streak lately -- and while it's idiotic to read too much into these little bursts of production, I'm an idiot, so maybe...

    Garin Cecchini

At this point, Cecchini is hitting .241/.320/.337 over 154 AAA games and 632 plate appearances. Add those numbers to his borderline defensive skills, and it's hard to argue with confidence at this point that he's got a major-league future.

    Garin Cecchini

I know RBIs are heavily context-dependent and not really indicative of talent -- but Cecchini has only 2 RBIs through June 3.

Michael Kopech, RHP: 2014 MLB Draft 33th Overall

From what I understand, a changeup hurts hard-throwing HS pitchers. Most HS batters can't catch up to a 90-mph fastball, and when they try, they time themselves well for a mid 80s change. But, yeah, few kids come out of high school knowing how to mix speeds or location.

    Eduardo Rodriguez called up

Could Rodriguez be taking Kelly's spot? According to Sean McAdam, Kelly might get only one more start to prove he belongs with the MLB club.

    Joe Posnanski: Lord of Lists

I never saw Pos as connecting with or really understanding his subjects. His insight isn't very penetrating. He builds people up. He's an idealist and a romantic. He's great at creating myths and heroes, at connecting people to ideals. And that's great, especially now in these cynical times...

Protecting the Shields -- The Nick Cafardo Thread

This is the money quote from the first piece:     And as long as I can remember, Cafardo has been criticizing the front office for not budging on moving Swihart and Betts for Hamels. So, yes, the second piece represents a turnaround that poses as something he's felt all along.

    Xander Bogaerts and patience

I think most of us see the start of a season as a reboot for the player. In that sense, mulling XB's hitting looks ridiculous after two games. But does the offseason truly grant a player a reboot, a new chance? It's just a few months off from baseball, it doesn't necessarily mark a definitive...

Protecting the Shields -- The Nick Cafardo Thread

Is it, though? Attendance is up, television revenue is up. Football is king, but with an even worse pace of play problem, IMHO. Do fans prefer a 12-10 slugfest? Or do they enjoy the constant barrage of scores, information and images? Or do they prefer rooting for their home club -- the same...

    Xander Bogaerts and patience

I didn't read the piece the way most of you are interpreting it -- it's not just two games here, it's an entire season and spring training behind it, too. XB had issues at the plate last year that he was working through, and that work continues. Hitting mechanics are reflected by stats, but you...

Protecting the Shields -- The Nick Cafardo Thread

What an execrable column. Really the worst. Even the premise of that argument is probably wrong.   This applies here: Baseball is dying? Don't be stupid.   Nobody could really believe the crap contained in that column. Dude was trolling us.

Did anyone else notice he ranked all the managers without saying anything negative about any of them? That, my friends, is quite a feat.
