Everybody hurts sometimes: The latest injuries

Correct! What they should do is have the thinnest possible pitching staff they can with no ability to withstand injury. And obviously, there’s no middle ground here. Maybe I’ll add some guys who haven’t ever gotten hurt in a comma separated list to make my point!

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

Boy, if this dude went into a bank and said he was Ohtani to get that much money he is toast.

    How's Boras Doing This Off-Season?

No one cares about COI when the tactics are working. When the old moves stop being effective and you lose the ability to see when the best deal is on the table, you lose clients.

    How's Boras Doing This Off-Season?

Exactly. I also forgot to mention the average fan has access to, not quite team level, but a pretty amazing amount of data that wasn't accessible for them even a decade ago.

    How's Boras Doing This Off-Season?

I do wonder if Boras’ style – the binders of data and lofty predictions for future performance – has been nearly cancelled out at this point by the rise of team analytics departments (“yeah, we have tons of data too, Scott”) and of social media commentary (the weakening ability to drive...

A’s have signed a binding agreement to purchase land for a future ballpark in Las Vegas.

I’ll absolutely be at the first Sox game there.

Feats of Mookie - 2024 Angst & Awe

I don’t want to say it’s “painful” but I find it hard to watch him now. And he’s still my favorite player, too.

If You Want Big Air, Pull My Finger - Ski and Ride 23-24

Jealous all over again. Looking over my pre-season hit list, it looks like I’m not going to get Alyeska, Mammoth, Crystal, Sun Valley or Big Sky in. It was an optimistic plan. I bought Mt Bachelor’s “365” pass for next year (full summer bike park, winter ski and includes an Ikon Base), so I’ll...

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

Cool, I mean I didn't post my script about what I think really happened, and what my assumption of someone's character means they did, or make any assumptions about what his personal or business relationships look like, either.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

I think everyone understands and no one needs to be convinced that fraud happens to people with money. But that doesn’t mean it did or didn’t happen here. All of this talk is fan fiction.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

I’d like to also point out there are loads more rich and famous dudes who thought rules didn’t apply to them because they’re rich and famous. No one here knows this guy personally.

The Frailty of the Modern Pitcher

The problem I see with this is that in machining you can measure all the bits and stuff. When you’re talking about a human body (which doesn’t really adhere to math in the first place), unless youre scoping the elbow and shoulder after every start, you’re missing a lot of necessary inputs...

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

Nope. I hope I didn’t come off as accusing (probably! Long day). I’m pushing back on the idea that MLB’s position on gambling has really anything to do with this situation Ohtani is in. And that the motivations and actions of DraftKings, et al are anything like an illegal gambling ring.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

We absolutely don’t disagree here. It’s a gross and simply opportunistic about face. I don’t consider that a reason for them not to be concerned about their highest paid player being in bed with a criminal racket. Edit 2: mildly humorous to watch them lie in the bed they’ve made for sure
