Arsenal 22-23: Time to Deliver the Goods

View: https://twitter.com/xGPhilosophy/status/1617226779504033792?s=20&t=M297K-i1CVrl1BbqM9FKNQ Hard to imagine a better first half of the year. 10/12 points from @Brighton, Newcastle, @Tottenham, ManUnited in the last four games with Jesus out is top shelf. I think the starting 11 have the...

    USMNT: Soccer's Coming Home

View: https://twitter.com/valleyshook/status/1610703956652572685 Honestly, The USMNT tearing itself apart because a dad was angry about his kid's playing time really is the best example we could give to the world of American Soccer.

    USMNT: Soccer's Coming Home

Awesome post. Here’s my question: do you think it’s really possible to have this type of tactical discipline when teams only have a short time together to train? I mean, the job of a national manager is to integrate players that come from disparate systems. There’s a good reason why national...

12-2 C's Cleanse the Palate of Patriots

That's a dumb, dumb foul by Tatum. He's gonna sit most of the third, probably.

    11/30 - Heated Garden

Always great to cool down the Heat but my celebration is a bit muted given this was a home game at basically full strength (not counting TimeLord) with both Butler and Oladipo sitting.

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

Great post. Here's what I posted at halftime... Now obviously the US ran out of gas halfway through the second half, but the first half was an overall level of play that I don't ever recall seeing from the US before. Not too dissimilar from what I saw of Netherlands vs Qatar earlier in the day...

11/27 - No Tatum? No Problem.

Tomorrow on WEEI: "Is Tatum's selfishness dragging down the C's offense?"

    MW Oct 8-11: Congest this!

Yeah, same. Especially in the context of the handball from the first half.

    MW Oct 8-11: Congest this!

Martinelli reminds me in some ways of Arjen Robben from yesteryear. Deceptively quick, always pushing the ball forward and running at his man.

The Nepo Shuffle -- The 2021 World Chess Championship

https://chess24.com/en/read/news/fide-bans-russia-from-holding-chess-events While not quite a true ban (it seems more equivalent to the IOC ban, where athletes can compete without the flag), this is pretty shocking. Much (most?) of FIDE's money comes from Russia. Not to mention the national...

    Holiday Gameweek: Congestion & Cancellations

As an Arsenal fan, I’d feel hard done by if the colors were reversed and the penalty wasn’t given. It’s less the call itself, and more the context (denied penalty in the first half, which was another defendable call, plus the ref going card crazy) that is frustrating.

The Nepo Shuffle -- The 2021 World Chess Championship

The challenge is that these championship games are so easy to draw with the obscene preparation these guys come in with, that losing a single game can change things massively. That's why there's way more Berlins than Najdorfs and more QGDs than King's Indians. The risk is just too great. Lose...

Euro 2020, round of 16, day 2: Tilting at Windmills

Glad to see Portugal out. They can play so beautifully at times, but mostly they're an affront to fair play.
