Red Sox trade for Garrett Crochet (CHW) for Kyle Teel, Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth and Wikelman Gonzalez

Young pitching is the most valuable commodity in the game. You have to trade something valuable to get it unless you want to pay through the nose in free agency. They were one of the few teams with an elite catching prospect to deal.

I would have just paid Burnes as well. But I don’t think they’re willing to do that.

Maybe they’ll only be $20 million under the winning bid this time.

Expected goals against was 3 last night assuming that I’m reading it correctly. Just a horrible performance.

I’m just trying to be a realist. I love baseball. This unfortunately isn’t about baseball. It’s business to these guys.

Other than not supporting the product. Which they know that most people on a Red Sox message board, or calling to bitch about them on talk radio, simply aren’t going to do.

Do they really give a shit what talk radio, or some random dudes on a message board say? Ticket prices are a function of supply & demand, and the demand is obviously still there. Until they stop meeting the revenue end of those projections, nothing is going to change.

The Steinbrenner Family owns the whole company as far as I know. Eventually they’ll sell out to someone as well.

I think they’ll stay in that 10-15 payroll. I’m sure that’s what they’re telling their investors on the quarterly earnings calls.

It’s a business. It sucks for us as fans, just like it sucks for employees & customers when private equity buys into any company. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about it.

The goal is to build the best team that they can within the budget parameters that they’ve established to meet the profit projections that they’ve promised to their shareholders. I think that they would love to win a World Series, but the most important thing is meeting the profit projections...

The time to make a decision on Marchand is in the offseason. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he hasn’t been extended. However I don’t think it’s worth conveying to the players that management doesn’t believe in the group if the sell off veterans this early.

They were hoping if they won a couple of fights, the league would give Sweeney another crack at the 2015 draft. Maybe he’ll see Connor there on the board this time.

    Max Fried signs with MFY

That was BC: Before Cardinale As soon as they let private equity money into the ownership group in 2021, the whole organization changed. Those guys don’t want long term risk, it’s all about short term return for them. And before anyone comes back with “they only own 12% of the company!”, there...

The Yoshida deal and the lack of pitching development is probably what got Bloom fired.
