While Hicks was a terrible owner, he wasn’t wrong about his valuation of the club. I remember a lot of harping about the debt when the media was talking about a potential sale (and how it didn’t include the mandatory new stadium); but FSG knew revenue increases would dwarf whatever...
I remember that. His group has done a remarkable job running Liverpool, but he did buy Liverpool and not Patrick Thistle. He could not lift a small club to Liverpool’s level while remaining revenue neutral.
I found the prospect of two out of three big clubs in England joining Arsenal on the sidelines next season fascinating. For Spurs and Chelsea, that could have led to some dramatic moves regarding their rosters (ManU farts out so much cash It’s yet to matter).
I don’t know who subs to the Athletic. I know that they are ignoring the most watched league in this country. I don’t think doing that, while covering leagues that people who live in the UK don’t care about, is what is going to keep the site alive. Frankly, it sounds like a company run by idiots...
I think it’s far more likely that racial prejudice within the Athletic is clouding their football coverage; over clear market demand for coverage for English lower division clubs with names like
King’s Lynn Club and Spennymoor Town FC.
It’s weird blind spot to have when Liga Mx is the most...
Football Reference agrees with you. I'm not versed in their HOF metric, but it has Polamalu just a tick below their threshold - while above several Hall of Fame defensive backs.
Their metric would rate Faneca as a first ballot choice.
One poster said he sucked and the first poster to respond wrote “agreed”.
The Steelers were selling out playing run because the Broncos were running the ball roughly 60% of their plays. Bad job by Taylor and Mundy. They were covering Thomas, not Polamalu.
Clearly. In the example that Kliq brought up, Polamalu simultaneously wore Ike Taylor and Ryan Mundy’s uniforms on Tebow’s winning pass to Thomas.
If it wasn’t for the hair, he would have been in the CFL selling shampoo north of the border.
