Wander Franco Is In Trouble (Grooming/Pedo Warning)

53.1 bWAR for his career, 49.5 of which came before turning 30. For comparison, Sandy Koufax also had 53.1 bWAR for his career, with 45 coming before he turned 30. (Not that I'm suggesting that they should be viewed anywhere near equal as players, just thought it was funny/interesting enough to...

Extreme Makeover: The Jarren Duran Edition

He also drew too many walks to ring up large single-season hit totals. His career high in hits was 179 and he only exceeded 150 hits 5 times in 25 seasons. (He did actually lead the AL in hits in the strike-shortened 1981 season though.) Willie Wilson had 147 triples and is still alive.

Extreme Makeover: The Jarren Duran Edition

He's currently leading the AL in doubles and triples. Last player to lead their league in both categories in the same season was Cesar Tovar believe it or not, back in 1970.

Feats of Mookie - 2024 Angst & Awe

Is it? There's a reddit thread from last July with some damning examples of OAA completely flubbing plays made/not made by outfielders. As an example, it considers this play to be the most difficult catch of Mookie's career, with an out probability of 5%. Some of the issues raised are that it...

    Angel Hernandez to retire

Funnily enough, that pitch was actually a strike. The pitch zone on the broadcast got it wrong.

    Angel Hernandez to retire

There was a recent youtube video that made a pretty good case for Ángel being undeserving of the hate that he gets. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9o4weN6AkPY

    Roasted GOAT

But then there wouldn't be time for jokes about how he used HGH to recover from an injury and then tried to blame his wife, and sent the mafia over to threaten the trainer who accidentally leaked that information.

Thoughts/Impressions on “The Dynasty” Apple TV Series

Not that I disagree with his overall point but it seems pretty weird that Rodney used himself as an example of Bill giving an underdog a chance to succeed. He had a reputation as a dirty player with San Diego but was still widely considered one of the best strong safeties in the NFL before he...

Thoughts/Impressions on “The Dynasty” Apple TV Series

I only remember the science aspect mentioned very briefly and in a dismissive way. (To be fair I did skip through a little bit of the DFG nonsense and it might've been mentioned again during a part I skipped.) But yeah, they really did a disservice by not explaining the actual reason the game...

    Macksonville: Mac Traded to Jaguars

I'd imagine the entire NFL has a higher QB rating in the red zone than they do overall.

Stacy Wakefield has passed away from cancer

That's incredibly tragic. I can't imagine what their kids are going through. My parents helped me so much in my early adult life and I don't know where I'd be today if I didn't have their guidance in my late teens/early 20s. RIP Stacy.

What do you want Pats to do with #3?

Draft MHJ and sign Cousins. The success rate on QBs at the top of the draft in recent years is pretty low and some of the criticisms I've read about the top 3 QB prospects don't fill me with much confidence. I'd rather go with a proven guy even if it's a short term solution.

That was then: Celebrating what was

The documentary is massively overselling the QB controversy in 2001 after Bledsoe was cleared to play. Drew had given the Patriots nearly 2 straight years of mediocre-at-best football going back to midway through the 99 season before Brady stepped in and gave the franchise new hope. There were...

That was then: Celebrating what was

Obviously Bledsoe should be QB. He threw 2 touchdowns in the first quarter in the Super Bowl while Brady only lead the Patriots to 3 points in the first quarter of his 9 Super Bowls COMBINED*. (I turned every game off after the first quarter though so I don't know what either of them did after...

    2024 HOF Ballot

Does net +/- N mean that they received N more/fewer total public votes than last year, or that their share of the public vote is approximately N percent higher or lower than last year? If Helton missed by 11 votes last year and only got 3 more public votes than last year then he'd need to get 8...

Is Mac Jones the biggest bust in Patriots history?

Tebucky looked like a bust after struggling through his first two seasons at cornerback but became a pretty solid starter for a few years after converting to free safety. Decidedly not a bust.

That was then: Celebrating what was

Troy Brown needs to be on that list somewhere. All time clutch player who came up with big play after big play in every facet of the game. Not the most talented guy but he perfectly embodied the Patriot way from the start with his work ethic and preparation along with his insanely high football...
