RedSox and Yankees will be in London next year on June 29-30.

I'd vote for turf over some grass surface that was put together at the last minute (that is, sod laid down or, even worse, those "trays" like they had at Reliant Stadium in Houston that were the prime reason Wes Welker blew his knee out). I think the worst thing about turf in this day and age...

Poor New England! So Far From Boston, So Close to the Kraft Family: The Revolution 2019

Quite a detailed article. I'd have to say it's a pretty fair article and stresses that there's a pretty thin line in terms of the cost/profitability. I'm from MetroWest. If nothing can be done in the core city, I'd vote for some place like Somerville compared to an equal distance south...

Johnson & Holt to IL, Walden & Lin called up

Does this make the bench Nunez, Holt, Leon, Pearce after today? I have to think Nunez is hanging on by a thread.

    Jackie MacMullan New Yorker interview

I met Frank Wall as a teenager while covering hockey games at a rink in Framingham (the entire Bay State League played there for a year or two before other suburban rinks got built). I agree 100% with the description. Not sure what kind of baseball coach he was with kids but his brother...

Dan Shaughnessy: Taking a dump in your mouth one column at a time

You'll notice that he's on JBJ's case the last week or so. Several references, most of which are in places where none is needed. I just love it when Shank zeroes in on a guy and the guy bounces back. Let's hope this is one of those times.

    Pedroia Predictions

Everyone seems to be on the same page w/regard to what he needs to do in order to play (that is, how many games a week he needs to be available for); don't think that was the case in other comeback attempts. So, yes, he's not hurting the team while attempting to achieve this.

Arrests in Major NCAA College Basketball Probe

The losers in the Williamson recruitment have to take a page from Doyle Lonergan (the bad guy in The Sting): "What was I supposed to do - call him for cheating better than me"

    2019 Boston College Football

Perhaps true, but what's transpired in the last 2-3 years to put BC in that position? 7 years is a long time. If true, TPTB at BC deserve a lot of credit for hanging on to Daz.

Dan Shaughnessy: Taking a dump in your mouth one column at a time

The Globe's management always touts Shank's "courage". In terms of that article, it would have been much more courageous for him to write it two weeks earlier; that is, tell the fans to cool it, the Sox would start playing better soon. He could even have stuck in a few tomato can references...

    Swihart traded to Dbacks

Small statistical sample to be sure, but Leon at .222 is a lot different from the .122 (or thereabouts) they got out of him after the All Star break. Even hit a dinger.

Road to Omaha -- 2019 College Baseball Thread

The CWS used to be more fun to watch around Boston when it was guaranteed an Eastern team (in a lot of cases, New England) was in it. Now, it's a rare occurrence as they seed the teams same as basketball. I don't think there's much chance of Holy Cross being replaced as the last local team...

    Mike Lynch retires

The rules for that would have been the same, strange that there was no call. Actually, not only did he get hit but the two Yale guys wiped each other out. They were still on the ground long after the play was over.

Fenway Park bowl game starting in 2020

I don't see Boston being a big Xmas time destination and a lot of the ACC schools make semi-annual trips there in the fall anyway. But I don't really have any dog in the hunt; and if it's on TV, will most likely watch. I seem to catch most of the crap bowls one way or another.

    Mike Lynch retires

Yeah, it was nice that a guy that had a great high school sports experience at a local school (Swampscott) ended up as a local sports anchor. He had a lot of respect for the coaches at that level who clearly aren't in it for the moneyh.

Fenway Park bowl game starting in 2020

The field is not heated, is it? Under the right, or should I say, wrong, conditions; could be an Ice Bowl.
