The summer chopping block: who do you want gone and why?

All the people who want CJM out are overreacting, IMO. So if the team had won game 7 would you still want him out? What if they had gone on to win the finals? These were not impossible scenarios. He made mistakes, a good number of them, as do all coaches. He also clearly made better adjustments...

    The Alternate Universe

I don't think it's fair to even call these accusations. They were suppositions put forth by members of the sports media looking for a narrative to help explain how and why the Celtics lost by so much to a seemingly inferior team.

Yeah but he was out with the garbage group at the end so some of those weren't real minutes. Fair but Hauser deserves a chance now. His shooting is on par with Pritchard's and he's a better defender. There's less of a chance he gets roasted.

Yeah was also notable that Joe called a timeout to get Pritchard off the floor when he saw those minutes weren't going well. I think next game he pushes the White minutes further and gives Hauser a short stint to see if he can get going.

Funny to hear the TNT guys saying Game 6 is a must-win for Miami. Could have sworn it was a must-win for Boston.

Given Stevens has said both for Ime and Joe that he will never go to them to offer advice but will always be there if they seek advice, I sincerely doubt this––unless you have someone else from above in mind?

Exactly. There is no certainty a new coach would do any better. I mean, jeez the guy is a half a year into his coaching career and he and his team are in the final four of the entire league. He's done well, and he deserves to have an offseason where he's actually aware of the fact that he's the...

I don't know. That's between Brad and Wyc. But I would say I think it's more likely to see some "surprising" roster decisions than see the coach get canned.

It's interesting how narratives can quickly spin out of control. This team could easily have won both of the first two games of this series. If they had won even one of them it's unlikely we would be getting the "Fire Joe" chants and nobody would be calling them "quitters." The last game was a...

Celtics vs Heat ECF Redux Discussion Thread

Absolutely. It took the team five minutes into the game to run a simple pick and roll for Tatum and get Love involved in an action and guess what, it worked. But the biggest story has been Caleb Martin turning into Jaylen Brown and Jaylen Brown turning into a pumpkin.

Doc Rivers fired as 76ers coach

Disagree. Doc has always done better with known talent as opposed to talent that needs to be brought along. He has generally had no interest in young teams; he doesn't want to make connections with players. He wants to win. I'd much rather have Monty for an up and coming team.

Doc Rivers fired as 76ers coach

It didn't help that they lost when they got up 3-2 because that propels the narrative that Doc's a choker (his teams are 16-33 in series in which they have three wins in a seven game playoff series).

Doc Rivers fired as 76ers coach

Doc was destined to get canned after they lost, but to me the most damning indictment against him was publicly crapping on Simmons and throwing him to the wolves. That also, arguably, diminished his value further, so it hurt the team, too. Now, maybe Simmons was too far gone at that point to be...

    Round 6 • Pick 33 (210) • WR Demario Douglas

Yeah, early on he could be used as a gadget guy, and also has experience returning punts and kickoffs. Here's a good article on the ways the Pats might use him: https://www.clnsmedia.com/patriots-draft-douglas Also, a funny anecdote, can't remember where I read it but when Flowers got injured...

Way Too Early 2023 Season Prediction

I voted for 2+. The schedule is overrated due to injury and overall year to year team variance. An optimist might not see our division as necessarily difficult. I hate to ask but how long can we expect Tua to last? I could see the Fins taking a step back even if he stays healthy. There is also...

    Round 6 • Pick 33 (210) • WR Demario Douglas

I think he's pretty interesting and realistically might have a better chance to make the team than Boutte. One guy he's worth comparing to is Josh Downs, the receiver from UNC, whom the Pats passed on earlier in the draft. Both are on the smaller side but while Downs plays exclusively in the...
