Fenway for the first time in a long time

This is a great thread, full of useful pointers. My first game was in 1957, when I was 10. We had seats in Section 17, and to this day I remember going up that concourse on the first-base side and seeing the Monster and that awesomely green field. That's why I can't hate "Fever Pitch."...

I’ll get it started. First play of the game and already these refs are ass.

Poll: Rate Your Faith in the Red Sox Front Office

When I was a boy, the Kansas City Athletics were essentially an AAAA farm team for the Yankees. We now fill that role for the Dodgers. They get our good players, we get their aging rejects

    11/25 - Dethroning Royalty

It's 0230 on 26 Nov here in Hawaii. Transplanted New Englander here, a longtime member who reads daily but posts rarely. Just finished scrolling through this Celtics game thread, (wasn't able to follow the game online) and wanted to commend the posters for a thread that had a great combination...

11/23 - Mavs at the Garden

Any particular reason the crowd is hating on Luka? He’s amazing, and the Mavs are losing big.

The Game Goat Thread: Wk. 7 vs Chicago

Can we go with "diddled the doggy"? Last night was a team effort.

Level of Confidence in Direction of the Patriots Franchise

Before last night I would have been in the "they'll figure it out" category, but now I'm "not so sure anymore." The whole team seemed sluggish. Plays were slow to develop and there were a lot of bad throws by both QBs. Even the two successful long throws by Bailey were not that great. They...

    2022-2023 General Celtics thread

I was very impressed by Malcolm Brogdon's contributions yesterday. It seemed to me that he played extremely intelligent, highly efficient basketball. Almost every step he took or move he made was designed to create an advantage or opportunity for himself or a teammate.

    Brady is back….back again

What defines a quality start to the day? This is a sad topic, but a lot of these comments are pretty funny.

NFL Playoffs - Divisional Round game thread

I lived in upstate NY 78-86, so feel some sympathy for Bills fans. And I hate that Pow-Wow-The-Indian-Boy chant. So inclined to favor Bills over Chiefs, but not strongly

When The Patriots Were The Punch Line - Alternative Title: Be Grateful, You Have No Frigging Idea How Bad They Once Were

More than 40 years passed before there was a worse call in a playoff game. I'm thinking o how the Saints got jobbed a couple of years ago on a non-call of what should have been pass interference in any era.

When The Patriots Were The Punch Line - Alternative Title: Be Grateful, You Have No Frigging Idea How Bad They Once Were

For me it was the Raiders, largely due to the two events you mention. My disdain for them continues, as I may have inadvertently demonstrated in my earlier post on this topic. The 'Phins, the Jets, the Steelers, etc. were just among that group of teams that were good (definitely better than the...

When The Patriots Were The Punch Line - Alternative Title: Be Grateful, You Have No Frigging Idea How Bad They Once Were

I brought my family there a couple of times to watch the New England Tea Men, which was actually a very pleasant experience. It was a much smaller and less rowdy crowd than was customary for Patriots games, so we missed the bad things that other posters have mentioned.

When The Patriots Were The Punch Line - Alternative Title: Be Grateful, You Have No Frigging Idea How Bad They Once Were

There was a brief resurrection of the Providence Steam Roller at about the same time, as a member of the equally evanescent Atlantic Coast Football League. Emilio Di Nitto, the football coach at my high school, was their quarterback.
