    Beat The Clock

One of the beauties of baseball is that it's a game without a clock. I understand wanting games to be shorter, but at the same time, most people that are complaining aren't hardcore baseball fans. Best way to shorten the game without hurting the integrity of the game would be less commercials...

Kevin Youkilis to be NESN's primary color analyst on Red Sox broadcasts in 2023

I like Youk and think he will get better. I thought Middlebrooks was the best of the revolving door (and he has a great podcast too), so glad he's still in the mix. Merloni should be good too. Prefer Wake in the studio but if he's only going to be part of 3 man booths, he might do OK. No Mazz is...

How do you feel now about this team, as opposed to earlier in the off-season?

I should add to my previous post that I do like the Mondesi deal, but I worry about his health. It doesn't look like he will start the year off healthy. If Mondesi can get healthy and play a majority of the year at SS and allows Kike to play more CF, then I like our defense a lot better.

How do you feel now about this team, as opposed to earlier in the off-season?

I like the moves from an offensive standpoint better than defensive. Duvall could have a bounce back year. He has some power, and this lineup, in my opinion, is lacking power (Turner is not the HR hitter he used to be, we lost JD, Story, and Bogey). But...signing Duvall instead of a SS means...

How do you feel now about this team, as opposed to earlier in the off-season?

I llike some of the moves they have made recently, and if it wasn't for the Story injury, I probably would have voted for "feeling a bit better" but because of the injury, I voted "about the same". My biggest worry is if the middle of the order will be productive enough for teams to pitch to...

Matt Barnes DFA'd, traded to Marlins for LH reliever Bleier

This has to be "pending trade" related. I don't love Barnes by any means, but DFAing Barnes while keeping Ort and Brasier doesn't make sense unless you have something in the works for Barnes. I am still waiting to pop the champagne when Brasier is DFA. I think I have an unhealthy aversion to...

Red Sox acquire SS/3B Adalberto Mondesi for Josh Taylor

It's a risk because of the injury history, but I like the upside. Plus, the cost was low. And it should still allow us to reset the cap. Plus, if he gets injured, you can always play Kike more at SS and Duvall in CF.

Red Sox Rumors - Just Kidding

If I thought Kim and/or Grisham was the missing piece to a potential championship caliber team, I may be OK with trading a good prospect like Rafaela. However, with Bogey gone and Story out most if not all year, this team might as well keep their prospects, hope to strike gold with a couple...

    How long will Chaim last?

I voted next offseason but would prefer it to happen tomorrow.

What is the greatest need right now?

Sorry, I obviously meant that the lineup was too LEFT-handed hence why they could look to trade Verdugo. I like Verdugo, but we are too left-handed and we have 2 OF who are best in LF, and the other one was just signed, so if someone has to go, Verdugo makes more sense.

What is the greatest need right now?

I voted OF even though we technically have 3 starters already. I don't like Verdugo in RF and I think the lineup as a whole is too right handed. SS is 1B, but I really think Chaim signed Story last year to be Bogaert's replacement. Arroyo is solid at 2B but can't stay healthy.

The 5 Dumbest Moves in Franchise History

I love Mookie and he was my favorite player at the time, but I can at least see why they did it at the time. The return sucked for a player of his caliber, but they got payroll flexibility by dumping Price. The deal was bad, but it pales in comparison to the Bagwell trade. To me, that's the...

Poll: Rate Your Faith in the Red Sox Front Office

I know it's not as simple as looking at a couple of moves in a vaccuum. But the bottom line is Bloom inherited a pre-prime Mookie, Benintendi, Bogaerts and Devers. He traded Mookie because he needed payroll flexibility and we dumped Price with him. I hated it. It was short sighted, and the...

One of two choices: Blow it up or build it back up?

You are right, there are still moves that can be made. But I also feel like "if everything falls perfectly in place and we catch a few breaks and stay healthy, we MIGHT be able to get to 85 wins and qualify for the final WC spot" shouldn't be the goal of a big market team like the Red Sox.

One of two choices: Blow it up or build it back up?

I do know the date on the calendar. But at this point, unless trades are made and supposedly our top prospects are off the board, there aren't any FAs left that move the needle much. There are complimentary pieces. If we had Bogaerts and Betts still, complimentary pieces would be great. But we...

    What does 2023 look like?

You are right, but here's the thing...he wouldn't have had to play 1B everyday for the rest of his career or even everyday last year. He could have played some 1B, some LF, he could have been DH and let JD play some OF. Then after 1 year, JD is off the books. Tampa Bay does this type of thing...

    What does 2023 look like?

This is a great point, and although a lot of people on here think we are just showing frustration because of the Bogaerts fiasco, it is so much more than that. Schwarber could have been had for a reasonable contract. How about Springer? His deal wasn't over the top at the time and now seems like...

Thank you for this post. Thanks for saying exactly what I (and probably a lot of others) was thinking. SOSH needs a like button. This post is great in every way. It's not just 1 team (Padres)...this is the market and all the teams Marzano mentioned are playing in it. We are playing with the...

Who Will Be the 2023 Opening Day Starter?

If Sale is healthy, it's him, so I voted that way. Of course, that doesn't mean that I'm confident that he will make it through spring training healthy. Not saying he will have a season ending injury in spring training, but I wouldn't be shocked if he has a dead arm, illness, or some type of...
