I am kinda friends with a guy who went to college with him, and he said he’s kind of a jerk. Lalas also used to call this guy “Al Franken” and once he told me that, I couldn’t unsee it. So I guess Lalas is perceptive in that way.

Mrs candylandriots agrees. She used to stop and watch back when he was on Arsenal, and forgets that she’s already asked me who he is like 20 times.

World Cup Day 14 12/3: KNOCKOUT!!! USA!!!

Wife and I went out for a swanky lunch after subsisting on a stadium shawarma yesterday, and found out we are eating where the Dutch are staying  . Decided to look up where all the other teams are. Some of them are a little surprising...

    Everything is Awful

Having the stadiums all nearby was definitely an appeal to me. Getting around countries like Brazil and Russia (not to mention most of North America next time around) is time-consuming and expensive. The only real appeal of the Qatar WC, to me as a spectator, was its compactness. We had intended...

You know Shaqiri loves that he scored against the Serbians (if you recall Xhaka doing the same in Russia, and getting disciplined for displaying the Albanian eagle after). Edit: oh guess it was shaqiri that scored, but I guess both did the eagle…I remembered Xhaka doing it only for some reason.

I keep having to catch myself, expecting to see Switzerland in red and Serbia in white, instead of the opposite colors they’re wearing tonight.

Berlin really didn’t care all that much. So many people were boycotting there. A friend of mine from Dortmund posted yesterday though that now Germany can fully boycott the WC haha. (and yes, your second reading got my meaning. Sorry for the lack of clarity!)

World Cup Day 11 11/30: All 8 teams alive!!! Messi!!! CONCACAF!!!

I've mentioned this here before, but the one game I ever went to with my dad featured a Lewandoski goal ending both halves. Hoping they win, as 1C-2D will be our first game in Qatar.
