10/23: Might As Well Let Us Win Today

Bader's just a pest from hell

10/22: ALCS Game 3, Javier vs. Cole

You typically want hitters to work the count so they eventually get in a favorable situation and get pitches to hit. (The end goal isn't just to always get walked, but to take advantage of pitchers having less options). The Yankees have occasionally done that and been in hitters counts and get...

10/20: ALCS Game 2, Yankees at Astros

Was that walk the tipping point to keep him in the lineup tonight? It was actually a somewhat impressive walk, especially given how he'd looked in prior ABs, but kind of funny to see Boone point to a single plate appearance. He still hasn't squared a pitch up in forever.

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

nobody's giving you fastballs anymore, Carpenter

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

I didn't think Montero looked that amazing against Gleyber or Judge either. Gleyber and Judge just both didn't execute on 3-2 fastballs, and that's with Judge getting that 7 inches below the zone call against him

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

That foul ball by Donaldson was his best swing in weeks. Amazing job of spoiling that pitch, was another slider that would have been 2 inches below the zone and matched the one just called a strike

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

Their plan of throwing Stanton fastballs over the outer half seems not smart

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

They've been throwing Rizzo a TON of mid-high fastballs and he's mostly been behind them. Nice to see him adjust

Darling rides in to excuse the horrific call

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

I don't think I agree in this case. Taillon wasn't really fooling anyone, gave up a bunch of hard contact and would have given up at least 2 more runs without an unbelievable play from Judge. Every batter with him was rolling the dice. Not that Clarke Schmidt has been some hero, but I think...

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

Wasn't an unfathomably bad call, in a non 2-0 count that's a great pitch, but it was a clear ball and it swung the AB.

The 2-0 one was 4 inches inside: View: https://imgur.com/a/c2Z0onk

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

Ump has given Verlander fastballs off the plate all day unfortunately. To the point that Ron Darling is stunned when he doesn't get ones that are close but clearly balls

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

Darling seems to really want Verlander to get borderline pitches, doesn't seem concerned when he gets calls off the plate

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

2 more IP from Taillon and 1 more run given up would be a pretty good outcome. The Yankees can score on this Verlander, hopefully he doesn't level it up

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

True. That was an incredible hanger though, an even worse pitch than the one Maldonado hammered

Trying to remember if Taillon has missed a bat yet

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

Torres got some pitches to hit, couldn't center them up. Verlander's location definitely not on point so far at least

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

Taillon is kind of like if a BP pitcher threw 4 different pitches but occasionally flashed an above average curveball

10/19 ALCS Game 1: Taillon vs. Verlander

Donaldson just kind of takes up space hoping to work counts but ultimately isn't going to have a good swing at anything, he's kind of a right-handed Hicks
