Eck is done in the NESN booth after the season

Not a lot of positive support for Youk here. I think he merits some time to grow in the role, but I would still be interested in taking a run at Ron Darling this winter. Related... if $ is an issue (as it seemingly always is with NESN), does the launch of the streaming service mean they'll...

Juan Soto is on the trade block; rejects $440 million contract extension from Washington

Sure they would. Off the cuff: Dominguez and one of Volpe/Peraza, plus Gleyber and Gallo, for Soto and Corbin.

Juan Soto is on the trade block; rejects $440 million contract extension from Washington

Since the Lerners are selling the team, they don't care about deferrals anymore. Paying the contract is the next owner's problem.

Red Sox sign James Paxton- 1/$10m+ 2yr club option

Agreed, which is why I said "less of a concern" and not "I'm totally unconcerned".

Red Sox sign James Paxton- 1/$10m+ 2yr club option

His track record says that should be less of a concern. He's either been good, or hurt. Career ERA from 2013-19 of 3.50, not a single season in there over 4.00. His IP totals in those years are all over the place, but the results are not.

Tom Brady to be lead NFL analyst on Fox when he retires

Talking to a friend at Fox about this "do you really think more people will watch because of the announcers" question, and he says it's not so much that he'll actually attract viewers because he's calling the game, but it does resonate with advertisers. So this is a bet that they'll make it back...

Agh, this hits hard for sure. RIP to a legend of the local media landscape.

    AirTags

Yeah, that's the killer for Tile. They have the same "lost mode"/community search thing, but having the scope of the entire iOS universe as your search device net is just a massive advantage to Apple. I agree that Tile is doomed here.

    AirTags

I've been using Tile for a few years for this purpose, this looks like a direct competitor (ripoff, even) of their product. It is a great thing to have though... I have them in my keys, wallet, sunglasses case. Haven't traveled in forever, but slipping one in a checked bag is also a great use...

Cutting The Cord on Cable/Satellite TV Service?

FYI, I'm on their "Super+ More" package tier, and I got a notice from them in January saying that package now includes unlimited data. I'm not sure where they drew that line, but it seems to be already decided.

Recommend me a 55-65 inch TV

Just circling back... got my LG CX 65 installed over the weekend. Good grief, the picture is beautiful. Exceeded my expectations.

Recommend me a 55-65 inch TV

I pulled the trigger tonight. 1949 for the 65" CX at BB's "member price".

    Dustin Pedroia Retrospective

Right, there's no need to worry about lux tax implications. And DP took what turned out to be a very below-market deal when he signed his big contract. With that comes the guarantee that he gets every last dollar in that contract, and that's exactly what's going to happen.

Recommend me a 55-65 inch TV

I'm watching CX 65 too. It just dropped 2199 to 1999 at BestBuy today. Anyone with thoughts on whether that's as good as it will get in next two weeks?

Adding additional Access Point to WIFI - Need a little help

LOL yes, mb not gb, of course. And good point about the config. I could have used the Eero Pro as the router if I were willing to use the nearby desktop via wifi (which would have been fine). Related issue was that I had a couple of other devices (Phillips Hue hub, for instance) that also...

Adding additional Access Point to WIFI - Need a little help

For the same reasons (wifi coverage), I just dumped my XFinity-provided All-in-one device. I bought a Netgear gig-speed modem (NetGear Nighthawk CM1150V) that still supported the landline, and went with Eero Pro for the mesh wifi. (And yes, Eero Pros do have ethernet ports if you want to connect...

New WiFi router or Mesh network

Might be too late for you, but a couple of months ago I dumped the Comcast-provided modem/router and went with the SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 SVG2482-AC-RB, which was pretty much the identical device Comcast had given me. I got it for just over $100 (refurb) via Home Depot (of all places). That model...
