Curb Your Enthusiasm: US Youth National Teams, Prospect Hype, and Youth Development Thread [The DA is DEAD updates]

One of my favorite types of player to watch is the high-skills creative guy who also kinda looks like a meatball. Shaqiri, Dimitri Payet, that kinda guy. Luna's definitely in that mold.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: US Youth National Teams, Prospect Hype, and Youth Development Thread [The DA is DEAD updates]

The only Pepi-like striker who's any good in this age group unfortunately is Pepi, and his blowing past this team is great for the US program overall but is tough for this specific U20 team. I think Cade + Cuevas on the left side was kinda rough, both good players but on the left both want to...

Curb Your Enthusiasm: US Youth National Teams, Prospect Hype, and Youth Development Thread [The DA is DEAD updates]

Exciting race of whether the US can score another banger before conceding another soft goal.

Surprised there’s VAR. Hopefully it does something with this weird call. Penalty it is! Not a foul on you to have your damn clock cleaned out.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: US Youth National Teams, Prospect Hype, and Youth Development Thread [The DA is DEAD updates]

From what I heard on a preview thing, health/match fitness is basically the only reason they're not starting him already

I could've sworn I saw that this was at 8:30pm, so this was timely service journalism for me.

    NBA Finals Game 6--Resiliency

It seems reductive to say it’s just the fucking turnovers, but also it’s just the fucking turnovers.

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

When the most elegant passer in the back line is Antonee Robinson and it’s not even close, there’s not a lot of clever build from the back you’re gonna see. Cannon has been truly wretched this window in the games where he’s an orthodox fullback. Playing his way off the plane to Qatar.

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

I can’t watch the second half, I am tired from all the NBA Finals watching and this is just too perverse soccer to watch until midnight.

WCQ 2022: Qualifiers for Qatar's Questionable Quagmire

I am not unhappy that the US's toughest group stage opponent appears to be in a pretty deep funk. Hope it continues into November. World cup cycle number two is about the right time for the wheels to come off with an international manager, if US cycles are anything to go by as a comparison.

Footy broadcasting - What do we have?

Yeah, those numbers are fun but did not pass the "I've watched baseball before" sniff test, and not in a fun Freakonomics "you thought you knew but you were wrong!" way but a dumb way. The graphics are great though which is mostly what I am into there.

Footy broadcasting - What do we have?

This will be a downgrade for me in pure "price versus how many games I can access" compared to the current EPSN+ deal as it's a new service one would pay for on top of AppleTV, but is seems like an upgrade in a lot of ways and a very good deal for both parties. I'm fascinated by the fact that...

    Spurs 21/22: Conte? Conte!!

This is football good and ethically ??? (I don't know enough about the particulars to be more specific than just a bunch of question marks). I hope it does not come back to haunt. Puts Spurs 4-deep at hard charging two-way MFs along with Hoj, Bentancur and Skipp. Allows for real rotation and...

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

Morris not doing himself any favors directly compared with Arriola tonight.

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

If he's working his way up to a full John Tolkin by the World Cup though, then all awkward transitory steps are forgiven

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

I can see why you'd say that in that it looks terrible, but it's soccer hair, get weird with it. Does look like he lost a bet though.

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

He works hard as hell and I love that about him, but the offense puts him on the bubble for me. Pulisic, Reyna, Aaronson and Weah are all definitely ahead of him, so it depends on the health of those guys and/or whether five wingers make the roster

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

I think Weah’s properly rated at this point, in that he starts the biggest games without question until and unless Reyna is back and healthy, and even then maybe. I think the thing we learned more is that Arriola’s uptick in threat in MLS does not appear to carry over to this level. He’s really...

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

Weah / Ferreira / Pulisic was dynamic. Arriola / Wright / Pulisic, very much not so.
