    Bergeron, Bergeron, Bergeron!

I’m elated. There are still so many questions about next years team but this news makes me realize how unprepared I was mentally for the post Bergeron era.

Lol You can hire anyone in the world to take that world class team to the next level. there is no sure bet on who that might be because the guys that can do it for sure already have jobs. There are a few guys who we know probably cant, because we have a long track record to fall back on. Paul...

    Red Sox in season discussion

It's a pretty small sample but the defensive improvement for Xander appears to a thing. Savant has him at 0 outs above average, which is 16th best in the league at SS, right with Franco and Baez. He was -10 last year. Devers is also at 0 OAA after finishing last year at -12. He's tied with...

If anyone can save Carter Hart's career, its "pack it in" Torts. They've hung that poor kid out to dry for too long and Joonas Korpisalo put up passable numbers behind Tort's program. and he sucks. The roster there is deeply flawed though so I don't expect much in terms of results.

    Minor league thread 2022

i highly suggest heading over to sox prospects message board to see the videos of him casually flicking the ball to the outfield wall. I have to keep telling myself not to get too excited about a kid this young.

Carbery is an intriguing option for me too. He has a really good reputation having come up in the ECHL and won their coach of the year there. He did a year under Jay Leach in Providence before getting the head coaching job in Hershey, where he won coach of the year there. He was in charge of...

So Joe thinks Jeremy Lauzon is the kind of guy that wins hockey games while watching the stanley cup playoffs where two teams will play for the cup with exactly zero players like him in their lineups. Bogo maybe? But he's objectively better than Lauzon, and has a cap hit $1.1m less. The Avs...

    Bruins Fire Cassidy

Ya, I agree it could be that. I very much believe Cassidy struggled with young players unless they were finished products. Truth be told, we know very little about how much impact Leach, Cassidy or the players themselves are responsible for in the end and Sweeney and his staff has a lot more...

    Bruins Fire Cassidy

I think the sample is just way too small. Who has done it? Montgomery, Quinn, Hakstol......Bob Johnson? I can't think of any others. Montgomery had a pretty decent first season before his personal life derailed everything. That team that fired him played in the cup finals so who knows how...

    Bruins Fire Cassidy

I'm deeply uninspired by all these coaching rumors. I realize these guys know exponentially more than we know from reading articles, but none of these guys is especially forward thinking or progressive, or really stand out at all. Quinn is the scariest of all. I was a fan of his at BU but at...

Definitely rooting for the Avs and they were by far the best team in Hockey in 2021. Hoping they can push back against the pressure on their shoulders.

Fix the Bruins. Or, How I Became the Fantasy GM

I'd quibble with this a little bit. I think that when you're talking about their amateur scouting operation, it's pretty clear they are above average to good, at least over the last 5ish years. Their philosophy has just been risk averse and they value character and size over skill and...

    Bruins Fire Cassidy

I agree that the piling on of how Don is handling this process is likely just people getting their emotions out and is kind of unfair. There have been rumblings all year that the room wasn't in love with the coach and Sweeney is well within his right to look elsewhere. It's a chicken/egg thing...

I think a lot of the issues with narrative around Sweeney's performance center around the 2015 draft and how high profile the players were that they traded to get those pics and then the results of them. I think if you're being objective and you look at Sweeney's drafting compared to the...

Fix the Bruins. Or, How I Became the Fantasy GM

He's tremendously talented, he's just not put it together. He's someone I'd be ok trying to see if he can figure it out provided the cost isnt 'former top 10 pick, kratsov!"
