Are you being sarcastic about the crowd? From the glimpses I saw on TV it looked empty in there.

    2021 Boston College football

I was talking more about the prior 2 years of recruiting, and the time needed to implement his coaching methods and getting past the first time head coach learning curve. But, considering the projected quality of the incoming freshmen, some of them should have an impact. The bottom line is any...

I did a double take on this. In what universe does this make sense?

Tiger Woods Car Accident - Ongoing News and Commentary

This was my first thought when I saw the video of him swinging. I think at this point the father/son tourney means as much or more to him as any regular tour event, plus he can use a cart. I hope he's able to play.

It would have been nice to wait and evaluate after next season before extending him, but with other programs sniffing around it probably needed to be done now. Next season should tell a lot, hopefully we take a step forward as he'll have 3 years of his own recruits in place with a top 30 ranked...

They played well defensively, which speaks to the effort, but other than Bickerstaff they had no answer for the athleticism of the Mitchell twins on the other end.

2022 NBA Draft: The Life of Paolo

Best case scenario Banchero was drinking underage (like every college kid, no big deal), but, he then gave the keys to his car to another underage kid who admitted to doing "several shots" beforehand. That's the official story and that's where aiding and abetting comes into play in NC. Sounds...

Celtics hire Ime Udoka as HC

What does the usual learning curve look like for rookie NBA coaches? In particular rookies with NO head coaching experience at any level. I'm sure it takes them some time to get acclimated just like rookie players. I tried to find "coaching stats" that might correlate that to wins and losses...

    "Neumie" has passed away

It was on the B side of the Brass Bonanza 45. I still have the record, even though I dont even have a record player anymore. Lots of great memories listening to him call Whalers games on the radio when I was a kid.

What NBA rules would you change?

Obviously there has to be a balance between what makes sense for the game vs what makes for more enjoyable viewing. The free throw proposals are certainly in that category, and personally I'm not sure what's best on that one. But there are some others that are more clear cut for me. The most...

What NBA rules would you change?

I saw lots of guys last season who could have had layups or dunks but kicked it out for a 3 instead. Ben Simmons in game 7 against the Hawks being the most blatant example.

What NBA rules would you change?

I like the idea of letting guys stay in the game, but I think the foul shots plus the ball is too much. How about just 1extra free throw. 3 if was a 2 shot foul, 4 if it was a 3, 2 if it was a 1. That gives coaches decisions to make based on how good the player is versus giving up extra...

What NBA rules would you change?

I love the new rule where you cant use "abnormal non basketball moves" to draw fouls when shooting. Hopefully they enforce it. If you had the authority to make it happen, what other NBA rule(s) would you change? I would eliminate the euro-step. I guarantee when the "2 steps are allowed when...

    UFC 2020

I read that Costa weighed 220 at fight time. Vettori 208. I give him a lot of credit for how he handled everything before, during, and after the fight. I dont get the whole weight cut thing in both boxing and MMA. I should say, I completely get why fighters do it, but I dont understand why...

    2021 Golf Thread

As Yogi would say, putting is 90% mental and the other half is physical. Its interesting you mention occasionally using a death grip. The first thing my club pro asked me (before watching me putt) was if I was gripping it too tight. Just goes to show there are countless ways to fix things...

Believe me, it's the yips. It's a twitch in my hands. If you've never had the yips it's hard for people to understand, but when it happens it's a dramatically different (and horrifying) feeling from your normal push or pull. I practice putting a LOT, because I've never been a good putter...

    2021 Golf Thread

Its performance anxiety for sure. I've played a lot of competitive golf and I was pretty solid under pressure when I was younger, but my nerves have gotten progressively worse since I turned 50. And I think I can trace the yips to a specific incident. 4 ball tourney at the end of last year...
