    Minor league thread 2021

Looks very much like the big club needs some offensive contribution from someone other than Verdugo, Martinez, X, Devers, and Vasquez. Is anyone close to hitting big league pitching? I'd settle for .250/.330/.390 especially if he can play a corner outfield spot well.

Might as well start talking about 2021

That starting pitching mentioned above will never amount to 95 wins - not next year anyway. None of those guys will get past 170 innings. Sale coming back from surgery, who knows what happens with EDRO, Houck and Pivetta are unknowns over the 162 game season and I don't think Eovaldi has ever...

Whose Departure From the Sox Devastated You Most?

Francona and Epstein - and I'm not sure which order I would put them in. While it's true there were championships in '13 and '18 I can't help but feel our entire roster would have been in much better shape from '12 thru '19 with those two in key positions. The one I was most glad to see leave...

MLB 2020: We're Playing, but We Can't Agree on Anything

I can't help but wonder what the shortened season will do to the front line free agents to be - like Mookie. If MLB plays a 120 game season for the sake of discussion, that might affect someone who has a slow start, an injury, or a prolonged slump. There will be less time to recover which...

    Our ownership group

I think you're correct about the underwhelming support this group gets in general. I think some of it, at least for me, harkens back to Luchino (sp?) being involved. The whole Francona, Valentine, Epstein business had Larry's fingerprints all over it. Since he has been out of the picture...

Down on the Farm, 2019 edition

This is unfortunate. If he was a logistician or a signal officer he might have had a better chance - but flight school is different - much tougher to qualify - and once qualified the Navy wants to get their money's worth.

Manny, Ortiz, Duquette, Gedman, and Dinneen to be inducted into Red Sox Hall of Fame

Regarding Duquette's entry into the Red Sox HOF it just may be that he was one of the best GMs of his time - consider for a moment that he traded for Pedro not once but twice as a GM. I guess I'm a little prejudiced since I'm from his home town, played a lot of ball with his older cousins, and...
