They’ve littered the game with so many fouls, it’s just killing more and more exciting plays, and the overall flow of games. Gambling and fantasy keep it bullet proof, but I find myself disliking the on field product more and more, largely because of the number of flags being thrown.
I didn’t think the o line had a particularly good game. Some push on the ground, but some negative plays as well. And though Jones made some clutch throws under duress, he was still under duress a fair amount. What I saw anyway.
For fuck sake, the defense didn’t lose the game. And there were no glaring strategic errors by JMD or BB. There was a back breaking fumble on the probable winning drive of the game. It blows. It happens.
I'm optimistically going with yes. They're likely going to exceed my mid 80's prediction for wins before the season. I think they'll be more like 88-90, which should sneak them in. Can even see them winning the WC game, if pitching lines up for Sale or Evo. But it ends there.
I'll add to the chorus recommending When Pride Still Mattered. An outstanding read, and really transcends football as an American story. Most of the Patriot-centric books I've read have been covered by others. I'd also include A Civil War by John Feinstein. A really compelling, inside look at...
Yeah, in all seriousness, some big red flags on that side of the ball. And O line is going to be a work in progress for a while. They have a manageable schedule, and could make the playoff. But they haven’t closed the gap on Bama or OSU.
