Three True Outcomes, The Bobby Dalbec Thread.

It depends on how much you believe his new hitting prowess is real and how much is catching lightning in a bottle. He's obviously not likely to sustain such high numbers, but it looks like he has made some real improvements. With an off season to work on his fielding, I think he's probably worth...

Pats Draft Rd.1/15: QB Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones

You could watch him improve in real time. Hell of a first start, McCorkle. The L ain't on him.

If the TV38/NESN Red Sox 10th Player Award Still Existed, It Would Go To...

It's close between Renfroe and Whitlock. A position player contributes more than a reliever, but almost nothing can be expected from a rule 5 pick, let alone being one of the best and most reliable arms on the staff. I vote Whitlock by a hair for knocking any reasonable expectation out of the...

    Sam “Bam” Cunningham passes away

This has been a rough week. I loved Sam Bam as a kid. RIP.

What are your thoughts on the Monaco and DiNardo pairing on NESN?

DOB is perfectly competent as an announcer but no better than that. If he had followed a poor announcer, I'd probably like him. Unfortunately, he is a pale shadow of Orsillo, who should have never been replaced. He has gotten better when paired with Eck. When paired with Burks, it's a snoozefest.

    David Patten passes away

I'm saddened to learn of David Patten's death but heartened to read the loving testimonies here and learn that he made an even better life outside football. RIP.

    Pats Release Cam Newton

I'm stunned but excited. Let's see what you got, McCorkle.

    Poll: Cam, Mac, Brian or?

I voted Mac but prefer Cam starts for x number of games to start the season. If Mac isn't the starter by the midpoint, it will either be a big disappointment or a pleasant surprise that Cam has dramatically improved on last season.

Will the real Red Sox please stand up? I repeat, will the real Red Sox please stand up?

This is most likely regression to the mean after outplaying their Pythag and expected outcomes in 1 run games in the first half. However, I'm hoping we see a regression to the regression soon. I'm having a hard time watching...

Grade the Red Sox trade deadline

I voted C but almost went B. It all hinges on Schwarber. If he comes off the IL soon and can play passable 1B, he's a fantastic addition at a tiny cost. If not (and if the pitching implodes), my grade would change to a D. I remain optimistic, but it's hard as a survivor of 1978.

Your top "forgot he was a Red Sox"

Seeing Rob Deer made me remember Jack Clark. I don't think anyone has mentioned him yet.

Carl Nassib: 1st active NFL player to come out

I look forward to the day when this will be neither newsworthy nor courageous. In the meantime, we'll done, Nassib.

Pats Re-sign Cam Newton to a 1-Year Deal

Cam's advantage over Dalton is that he already knows the system. I'm fine with him for a year, even if he is uninspiring. Belichick must have seen things from Cam in practice that we didn't see in games. In Bill we trust...

    Thank You, Jackie Bradley Jr.

I've had what I thought was an irrational love of JBJ since his debut. I marveled at his prowess with the glove and maintained a hope that he would break out as a hitter with his hot streaks becoming the norm. Reading this thread made me realize how much he is appreciated by Red Sox fandom, and...

Thank you, Petey: Dustin Pedroia announces his retirement

Dustin is one of my all time favorite players, and I'm glad he played every moment in the bigs in a Red Sox uniform. It's just too bad his career ended the way it did. Here's wishing Dustin a Hall of Fame life to go with his Red Sox Hall of Fame career.
