Peter King claims Trask might go 1st round... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/04/11/20-qb-decisions-nfl-draft-fmia-peter-king/ Betting line has over 5.5 1st round QBs paying 3-1.

I don't think a 6th QB should be taken until the 3rd round. But teams do silly things, so no clue.

Basically what Yaz said. Every team's board is different. Some teams fall in love with certain players, think they're 1 player away, etc.

I haven't posted a big board or anything. Just saying based on draftnik consensus & your list seems right (12 highly regarded players + Mac = top 13). I only want to see them trade up for Lance/Fields & if they see value close to how I do & the right offer comes up I hope they take it. A good...

    Pats QB Options

There's a drop off after around the top 12 (+Mac Jones) & value is pretty flat after that. If they can't get Fields/Lance & someone makes a great offer, it would be hard to refuse. If the Patriots are bad enough this year to be in position to take a good QB next year, they might as well fold...

I'm going to be casually freaking out every moment from the time the 49ers go on the clock @ 3 until Lance & Fields are off the board. & then I will hope the Patriots get good value in their trade down.

Cam has a 9 7/8" hand. Idk what that really means, but for reference purposes TB & ARod both have 9.38" hands. Largest QB hands of all time (since they started measuring) were Jim Druckenmiller 11.25". Dak/Cody Kessler 2nd at 10.88"...

Agree. Would have to get a great deal to do it in advance. Technically there's no guarantee the Jets take Wilson, so even if BB talked to his buddy Shanny & he told him he planned on Mac, if the Jets zagged & drafted the one of Lance/Fields they had traded up for, & the 49ers audible to Wilson...

    Pats QB Options

That kind of depends. If they love l only 1 of Lance/Fields, they kind of need to do what it takes to get to 4 if they can stomach the price. I think giving up 3 1sts & a 2nd this year seems crazy when the 49ers gave up 3 1sts & a 3rd next year, even though 12 is obviously a better pick than...

Albert Breer suggested 15, 120 & 122 this year + our 1st next year would be a fair return for 4 from the Falcons, but that the actual price might be more due to demand. Would do that trade in a heartbeat, though.

    Pats Roster Planning: Offense

If we're haggling prices, can I interest you in a Texans 2022 7th instead & keep the current 4th/5th structure? But yeah, you're probably right depending on just how jacked his knee is. Bucs expect to be picking late in the round, though, so it's a bit less of a move down than it appears on paper.

Would tanking in 2020 been a better option for QB draft position?

Counterpoint: they allowed Adam Gase to coach the team + the blitz against the Raiders. But yeah, players & coaches like to win football games. That's kinda why they got into the business, especially the best ones.

    Pats Roster Planning: Offense

Pre-edit I was going to ask about the Kiko Alonso trade to Eagles 8 months after ACL tear & say I assume it's up to the team/their doctors what level of injury risk & status of previous injury they're willing to take on.

    Pats Roster Planning: Offense

I think an Edelman trade to the Bucs makes a lot of sense... 1) They haven't re-signed AB & nothing appears imminent on that front. 2) Brady likes him. 3) Nice weather in FL should be more gentle on his knees. 4) Bucs have some depth behind Evans/Godwin including Scotty Miller & Tyler...

One last ridiculous 2011 draft fact: 4 players with the 1st or last name "Cameron" were drafted & they all have made the Pro Bowl at least once: #1 Cameron Jerrell Newton (3x) #24 Cameron Tyler Jordan (6x) #31 Cameron Phillips Heyward (4x) #102 Jordan Cravens Cameron (1x)

Oops, yup, just realized I misread that. A system where a 69 is a great player & a 63 is a mediocre player seems like not a great system, but I'm sure there's more to it.

    Pats QB Options

Yeah, he has elite TE measurables. If he could be passable receiver or special teams guy it would certainly give him more room to stay on an NFL roster & work on his QB stuff as well.

Watson was 12, but going 7-12: 2018 #7 Josh Allen (everyone realizes Josh Allens went #7 in back to back drafts right? I feel like this is an underpublicized fact). 2017 #10 Patrick Mahomes #12 Deshaun Watson 2012 #8 Ryan Tannehill 2011 #8 Jake Locker #10 Blaine Gabbert #12 Christian...

@SMU_Sox No offense taken. We're on the same page. I think an important part of evaluating QBs is seeing where the flaws were in evaluating past QBs & learning from those errors. Even if a college offense does call for a certain type of read or simplification primarily because it's the most...
