    NBA Offseason

It is voided because he's already over the max. Incredible trade for Washington IMO. Going from Wall to Russ for only one pick that at the absolute best could be the 9th pick 5 years from now, is good business

Stop hoarding TP(E) - the what should the Celtics do with the TPE thread

I would've wanted you not to say something as absurd as Otto Porter is a twelfth man. Most of the rest of your argument is reasonable, adding something so ridiculous to make your point sullies the rest of it. I would've extended Porter in the scenario I described for something in the 12-15M...

I mean? What are we even doing here? I really hate this board sometimes.

I wouldn't trade for him as a rental either. As I mentioned, I'd do it if I could get Porter extended at a much lower number.

Stop hoarding TP(E) - the what should the Celtics do with the TPE thread

Yeah man, he's been banged up the last two years with not major injuries, following seasons of 74, 75, 80 and 77 games played. As for useless, whooo boy, a wing who can give me 13.5 PTS 5 REB 2 AST 1.5 Stl on 46/40/79 shooting is useless? Your bar for a useful player must be mighty high...

Stop hoarding TP(E) - the what should the Celtics do with the TPE thread

I mean, no, they wouldn't be. I didn't say that Theis/Langford necessarily would go to Chicago in a deal for Porter. Just said they'd have to be off the books for him to fit.

Stop hoarding TP(E) - the what should the Celtics do with the TPE thread

I mentioned this in the other thread, but I keep thinking about why the Hayward contract is structured so unusually. Instead of the standard raised paying him 27.9M, 29.3M, 30.7M, and 32.1M he got 28.5M, 29.9M, 30.1M, and 31.5M Why structure it with such a tiny change there? They might save an...

Carry on my Hayward Son: Gordon to Charlotte for 4 years, $120M

Correct. We don't know for sure what Teague signed for yet, either the BAE or the minimum. If he's at the BAE, the Celtics could add about 21M from the TPE without going over apron, assuming that player replaces Javonte. If he's at the minimum, it's around 23M

Carry on my Hayward Son: Gordon to Charlotte for 4 years, $120M

Interesting, maybe only to me, I believe there is only one guy in the league that makes between the 27.9M exception the Celtics would've gotten if Hayward was structured to most common way, and the 28.5M one they got for starting Hayward just a tiny bit higher, and that's Otto Porter in the...

    NBA Offseason

Yes Charlotte would have to take back Joseph. I think they'd have just enough space to fit Hayward in for Bjelica. Might be trying to thread to fine a needle to have Sacramento consider Rozier enough of an upgrade to do it, and Charlotte maybe not willing to take Joseph. Probably easier just...

    NBA Offseason

Now that the Kings have signed Hassan Whiteside and Frank Kaminsky, to add to Marvin Bagley, Richaun Holmes, Jabari Parker and Nemanja Bjelica who are all 4s or 5s(Jabari can probably play some 3, but should be a 4), I wonder if Boston can pry Bjelica out of there. Maybe Hayward to Charlotte...

Carry on my Hayward Son: Gordon to Charlotte for 4 years, $120M

It doesn't have to be Batum. If they move Rozier or Zeller, they have the space to fit Hayward and they can eat the full Batum cap hit this year. I think the delay is finding a home for Rozier or Zeller, not Batum. Edit: I should say It's very possible a deal is already done. These things...

Carry on my Hayward Son: Gordon to Charlotte for 4 years, $120M

I see Valanciunas as a better player than Ariza as well, but can only play the 5, at a position I'm already stocked at, and Memphis is not going to give him away for cheap, as I think and Ariza would be. Also, I really don't think an Ariza deal reduces flexibility drastically. If the Celtics do...

Carry on my Hayward Son: Gordon to Charlotte for 4 years, $120M

Well, now I understand why you don't want to use a TPE to get a veteran role player. If you think there is any shot at someone like Caris Levert for just picks and a TPE, I'd save the TPE too. That feels like a zero percenter to me. Valanciunas isn't a guy I'd give up anything for, he's...

Carry on my Hayward Son: Gordon to Charlotte for 4 years, $120M

I mean, he'd be the 6th or 7th man on this current Celtics team, so I guess I like their chances of being an ECF team in the present much more than you do. And again, I think people are aiming way too pie in the sky thinking they're going to bring in another longterm big salary guy. I just see...

Carry on my Hayward Son: Gordon to Charlotte for 4 years, $120M

Depending upon if Teague signed for the BAE or minimum, they are somewhere around 17-18M below the tax right now. I believe, as you do, they'll want to stay under the tax this year. But I also think they would be more likely to use the TPE to add a role player this year, rather than wait to see...

Carry on my Hayward Son: Gordon to Charlotte for 4 years, $120M

I think we actually overrate how much Championship teams rely on "rookie and second year players". Guys, really, I think the Celtics can afford to move on from Javonte Green and add one proven veteran on the wing so they don't have to count on 100% unproven players to play those bench minutes...
