Oh man, I blacked that whole part out. Thank god for Mother's Polish :)

Cutting The Cord on Cable/Satellite TV Service?

Yea, it's a terrible, awful mess of terminology - "Wifi 5" is the marketing name for 802.11ac, which (coincidentally) runs in the 5GHz band. "Wifi 6" is 802.11ax, just really coming into the market now, it runs in the 2.4+5GHz bands. 5G LTE is completely different, even though the name sounds...

Cutting The Cord on Cable/Satellite TV Service?

FYI, I think it's actually 5GHz band, not 5G (a bit of translation failure, or marketing hype, depending on how charitable you want to be). It would be a bit surprising to me (right now) if something so simple used 5G, since chips for doing this at 5GHz are $10-11 each. 5G actually transmits...

Formula 1: General Discussion and 2020 Preview

It used to air on NBCSN with ads, in the beginning of their coverage package. They would miss stuff on track as a result, fairly regularly. :( Later they switched to that picture-in-picture thing where the ad shows next to the program. Still not great. But F1 (as on ESPN now, and how it was...

    Blocking open WiFi networks?

FYI, that's basically what the link I gave you said, except they show how you can approve certain networks (whatever your router SSID is) and then block everything else (rather than blocking onesie/twosie). Because he'll figure out how to wifi hotspot off that Verizon phone, for example :)

    Blocking open WiFi networks?

Something like this might work: https://winaero.com/blog/filter-wireless-networks-in-windows-10-to-create-a-black-list-or-white-list/ If it's a laptop you need to whitelist all the potential networks it can access though, otherwise that default blacklist will keep it from connecting, I think.

    2020 NFL: Predictions Thread

Can you say more about why you think this? I spent a lot of yesterday reading about the Minnesota offense and various projections for his output for the year (fantasy keeper league...) and I think he'll be solid this year but I feel like there is some serious boom/bust potential too. Or is...

Formula 1: General Discussion and 2020 Preview

Interesting, because I am really curious to see how the 3-8 (or even 3-10) battle plays out tomorrow. Yea it's not so fun knowing the 1-2 results will be Silver (and most likely HAM/BOT in that order), but after that it looks like a wide-open race, whereas it used to be Max = 3rd, almost...

Tech ideas for a new nonprofit

GSuite eligibility as a non-profit is (or most easily can be) determined by having a .org domain, or at least that was the case a few years back. EDIT: ignore, it's changed. TechSoup does their NP verification now: https://www.google.com/nonprofits/eligibility/

Recommend me a 55-65 inch TV

FYI, the Sony panels are sourced from the same factory, the picture quality is due to the Sony having a different processor. You'll need to side-by-side them to see if you can tell the difference between two specific models.

Help Me Maximize my Awful Wi-Fi/Internet

You need to know this / do this before dumping $$ on router upgrades. If you have an 8-10mbit DSL, all the router upgrades in the world aren't gonna help.

Help Me Maximize my Awful Wi-Fi/Internet

That modem/router should be replaced. But, at a minimum check to see if the firmware has been updated, because it was being compromised ~2 years ago as part of a botnet. I would advocate for whatever modem Verizon can give you / get you, and then a standalone router - if trying to keep cost...

It's amazing that his punchability is so high that it makes me wish that Vettel were driving better so his dad would be put in the awkward position of having to dump Lance for Seb.

Want to use full-size landline phone with cellphone SIM hub

That's pretty much the kind of thing I would suggest (I have no familiarity with specific brands - I think a fair number of those devices are intended for use with home alarm systems though, in the event of cut landline wires, with only occasional use - so I have no idea how they perform as...

Formula 1: General Discussion and 2020 Preview

I'm totally stealing this. With this race believed to be a 2-stopper because of the softer tire choices, might we see a mid-pack team gamble for an advantage, do a 1-stopper and have some final lap tire issues? Sainz must be a little desperate after quali, he seems like a possibility.

Adding additional Access Point to WIFI - Need a little help

Yah, the Eero Beacon is the thing that doesn't have the GigE ports, so it is using wireless backhaul. When you do the Pros (or the Google Wifi) it can use the GigE as the backhaul. Glad your setup is working for you though it seems a little overkill-ish (you basically have 3 "routers" in the...

Agree with both of those points - especially that the midpack racing is quite interesting this year, I do wish Renault (and Danny Ric) could show more though. Lewis really seems to know how to take full advantage of the machinery he's given, to his credit.

Adding additional Access Point to WIFI - Need a little help

I would just dump the XFi router + MESH pods, unless you really need the landline functionality, which is the only reason you would need to keep it. The cable-company routers are generally just not that good. I helped my friend replace this exact setup at her place (XFi router), she went with...
