Insane. If you're just looking for some old school fun good will from former player... Reggie Wayne is your receivers coach. Use him as a figure head with Bradley and Fox advising. At least you could squint and see that as something as a Colts player. This is totally ridiculous - just pure nonsense. Saturday has no idea how to run a team. I'm sure he knows football - but come on.

It is. So what's driving it? Tanking? Saturday was done before Ballard was involved, so cronyism seems out. Unless this is irsay's move?Insane. This guy is going to save Nathaniel Hackett's job by instantly becoming the worst HC in the league. Hackett will look like a genius next to Saturday.Adam Schefter

Here’s one of the biggest issues that new Colts’ interim HC will encounter once he arrives in Indianapolis later today: no one on his staff has called NFL plays before. It will be one of Saturday’s first orders of business, figuring out who will call plays Sunday vs. the Raiders.
As well as passing over QB coach Scott Milanovich, who coached the Argonauts to a Grey Cup in the CFL.
Unfortunately, they already played. It was one of the most putrid games of the season, but the Saturday-Hackett face-off game would've been EPIC.This guy is going to save Nathaniel Hackett's job by instantly becoming the worst HC in the league. Hackett will look like a genius next to Saturday.

Don't forget Tuesday Weld.Bringing in Rick Monday and Wednesday Addams as assistants.
And Thursday Next, Joe Friday and Helen Thompson SundayDon't forget Tuesday Weld.
Agreed ... plus, Fox and Bradley have seen it all in their careers in terms of coaching situations, so while they might be pissed off they know their next jobs depend on trying to look good through this messWouldn't the fact that people like Bradley and Fox being on staff make it more likely that someone like Saturday could come in and be the "coach" of a team? Like he can talk to the media and throw the challenge flag, but there are very experienced people behind him kind of running the show.
Why not give Reggie Wayne the job then? He's a Ring of Honor Member, he has current experience coaching in the NFL as a WR coach for the Colts themselves.Wouldn't the fact that people like Bradley and Fox being on staff make it more likely that someone like Saturday could come in and be the "coach" of a team? Don’t you think Marvin Harrison deserves a shot?Reggie Wayne

Or Ruby Tuesday, who I can forgive you for overlooking because in all honesty, who can hang a name on her?Don't forget Tuesday Weld.
Just in case you think no one noticed!Don’t you think Marvin Harrison deserves a shot?

Well played sir.
No “I’ll gladly pay Saturday for losing games on Sunday”?Suck for Stroud? Doesn’t have the same ring to it, but Irsay is a man that knows what needs to be done.
He’s just smart enough not to say he’ll pay Saturday for losing games out loud or tamper with Tom Brady on his yacht.
I would argue that the losing side's staff has not done all that well, either.View: https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer/status/1353140763559915520?s=20&t=1z0gs5Bq9MQ-3SyByqZ9kg
Breer slicing like a hammer, as always.
Reich was always a poor coach. He punted away some ridiculously easy chance in OT in his first year, collapsed last year and they're garbage this year. Ballard stinks too but the coach is always the first to go.
Man that SB52 winning staff has certainly crashed and burned since then.
Nicely done, Sir.No “I’ll gladly pay Saturday for losing games on Sunday”?
He won't get another job this year, if only because it's week 9 and few coaches are going to upend their apple carts in the middle of the stream.I would argue that the losing side's staff has not done all that well, either.
Reich will get a job within minutes, probably down in Jacksonville if he wants it. I would agree that he made some mistakes, but man is that Colts personnel "on paper good" and not actually good. I understood why they grabbed Rivers, I was grateful that he grabbed Wentz (even though I saw that train wreck coming for Frank) and I was stunned that he chose Ryan. They HAVE to be thinking that this is the season to grab a QB...no?
I think, while it ended poorly (doesn’t it always?) and I understand their moving on, he was a competent head coach. How many coaches justifiably last 4-5 years? Are they all poor?He won't get another job this year, if only because it's week 9 and few coaches are going to upend their apple carts in the middle of the stream.
He appears to be another guy who was good as a coordinator and poor as a HC. Luck retired and Rivers retired, OK. Choosing Wentz was egregiously dumb, and that's on Reich. And this year they've handled the QB position lamentably poorly. Signing Ryan indicated they thought they would make a run this year, but since then....yikes.
I'd be surprised if Irsay wasn't involved. Have to wonder if race was a factor as well.It is. So what's driving it? Tanking? Saturday was done before Ballard was involved, so cronyism seems out. Unless this is irsay's move?
Was he good as a coordinator? Looks like he had one year out of his four years where his offense was above average. That resulted in a nice Super Bowl win that Reich was able to capitalize on. Certainly there are guys with more impressive resumes as OC that don't get that chance. He appears to be another guy who was good as a coordinator and poor as a HC.
I'll give him plenty of credit for getting Wentz to play like an MVP for 13 games in their SB year. Given what we've seen from Wentz since, that's quite an accomplishment.I'd be surprised if Irsay wasn't involved. Have to wonder if race was a factor as well.

Well, shit, Vince Lombardi was coaching St. Ceclia's of Englewood, NJ 10 years before he got the Packer job.Hebron Christian Academy HC to NFL HC... quite the jump.
nah he's already got His Girl Friday. And Thursday Next, Joe Friday and Helen Thompson Sunday
He did end up getting a fairly decent year out of Brissett despite the suddenness of the Luck retirement.I'll give him plenty of credit for getting Wentz to play like an MVP for 13 games in their SB year. Given what we've seen from Wentz since, that's quite an accomplishment.
In terms of his being a HC, they won one playoff game with Luck as their QB, which ain't nothing but they likely were looking for more. Once Luck retired he had to figure out the QB question and never did. He's the guy with the offensive background, he needed to do better with that.
Hang on, what's your basis for making this claim?I think, while it ended poorly (doesn’t it always?) and I understand their moving on, he was a competent head coach. How many coaches justifiably last 4-5 years? Are they all poor?
Hang on, what's your basis for making this claim?
I mean, there were video breakdowns upthread. Haven't we had the wheels fully off and the train screeching ahead purely on momentum for basically 12 months now?
So you think they are worried they might not be bad enough to move on from? in 8 games?Maybe Saturday sucks. But Bradley definitely sucks. Fox - I mean whatever, I feel like if you name Fox coach then you're kind of in a position where if he has this team rally for a bit you're forced to bring him back next year. But Fox sucks too.
With this hire, doesn't it seem like they're living for yesterday? The Colts seemed to always keep living for tomorrow.
No, no, the day before yesterday. With this hire, doesn't it seem like they're living for yesterday?
Got em. It still feels like they’re living for tomorrow because Saturday was brought in to steer the tank without the team and locker room imploding. No, no, the day before yesterday.
Indy players going to be making a lot of “business decisions” the rest of the year. I wonder what old friend Stephon Gilmore makes of his recent career choices…Got em. It still feels like they’re living for tomorrow because Saturday was brought in to steer the tank without the team and locker room imploding.
This guy doesn’t even have a play caller on his staff. Is Peyton going to text him plays? They literally just hired a mediocre HS coach to come in and evaluate the roster for the rest of the season.
The day before yesterday's tomorrow's yesterday. No, no, the day before yesterday.
