I'm in the "playing QB when the game is close and the opposing defense is playing their hearts out in order to keep the lead is harder than throwing for 200 yards and 2 TDs in the second half of a 40 point blowout" camp.
Agree it's harder. The flip side is that Buffalo could just pin their ears back and rush the passer while basically ignoring the Pats' running game and it's really hard to throw the ball successfully against the #1 pass defense in the NFL in bitter cold temps when they don't have to do anything but defend the pass.

Imagine showering a QB with praise in a game that was over at halftime. Not a single play in the final 30 minutes had any impact on the game.
I think his first drive was really, really good aside from the pick, which in my view wasn't even a terrible play. After that I honestly didn't see him do anything of note.

Come on John. There's a difference between saying that Mac played a gutsy game and "showering him with praise". That's absurd.

Josh Allen was 21 for 25 with 305 yards and a 157.6 QB rating. He was also playing in the bitter cold.

Calling him gutsy in a game that was over at halftime is showering him with praise. There is nothing gutsy about getting blown out. It's just a blow out. While Buffalo was putting up 40 points, Mac put up 7.

Yes, he was far and away the best QB of the weekend. It's virtually impossible to play better. He's not even part of this conversation other than to acknowledge that he was incredible (and the Pats' defense was historically bad).

I feel like Mac really can't be ranked because most of the Pats' drives were meaningless. He was legit good on the first drive though.

And in this week, you ranked Mac ahead of a guy who had less INTs and more y/a and won his game and didn't play in a game that was over at halftime.

Are you serious with this?
You're talking about Jimmy G, I presume. The guy who made the single worst throw of the weekend (so far) and very nearly gave away the game. Fine. Jimmy was better than Mac.

Happy?

You picked the Jets to win the East in the prediction thread ;)
Yes, but that was before the season, not after.

What BJ is doing is luckiest basically saying, "The Jets really won the division in 2021 because of their gutsy wins against two playoff teams in Cinncy and Tenn."

Buffalo punted zero times against the Pats over the course of two games.

Pitt has punted five times in a quarter and a half.

Mac doesn't play D.

Mac was far from perfect. I'm taking @BaseballJones as maybe slightly overrating Mac, but showing he wasn't as bad as some of the other threads have said being the general point. Some said there is only like 1 playoff QB that Mac would beat out in a draft, but despite this, he has outperformed several of them. The game outcome was shit, but Mac was a lone bright spot. And Mac faced a tougher D than some of them and a D that knew he passing.
