Edit: ESPN confirmed.

So is LSU and Florida - and OU is a huge opening. It’s an endless cycle and somewhat all related.
Lincoln Riley is the story, and it's a damn big one if he chooses to rebuild USC instead of staying at OU for as long as he wants. If Stoops decides to come out of retirement to return to OU or take the Florida job, those are huge and threadworthy as well. Otherwise, it's not in the same ballpark.

Holy shit. Love this move for USC. Home run hire (not that they always work out). It would be great to have a west coast powerhouse again.

Lincoln Riley was right about Lincoln Riley not being the next head coach of LSU.

Excited to hear how much USC is paying him after us faculty and staff had to go without raises during the pandemic despite a ballooning endowment!

Kiffin tweeting a BMW with Louisiana plates, Joey Freshwater making a move next door?
I think he’s just trolling. I’ve grown to actually like Lane a bit in recent years. He seems very aware of his reputation and leans into it.

I think it's a fascinating decision by Riley. West coast football has pretty much sucked for years. I think he has a chance to dominate recruiting out there and set up a true west coast powerhouse
Scuttlebutt is that he's leaving because he's upset over the SEC move.

Ah thanks. Not sure how I missed that, but it’s a big deal.
Yep, the transfer portal was introduced a few years back, so there is no NCAA requirement to sit out a year anymore. That's why we've seen so, so many more transfers in recent years than ever before. Anthony Brown, formerly the QB at Boston College transferred to Oregon two years ago, played late in the season, and is now the starter. The guy he replaced, Tyler Shough, then transferred out after the season last year, and is now playing at Texas Tech....The coaching carousel is nothing compared to the player carousel now...EJ Perry, the Andover native, who was backing up Brown at BC, transferred to Brown, and then Jurkovech (the current BC QB) transferred in from Notre Dame.

Guys on ESPN were speculating that QB, Caleb Williams, will be going with him too. That alone would put USC in the BCS playoff discussion next year.
Out of conference games:

2022- ND, Fresno, Rice
2023 - ND, Nevada, BYU
2024 - ND, LSU in Vegas, San Jose

OU has a press conference at 3 central, I bet they announce Venables as their new coach.
It was to re-introduce Bob Stoops. BS talked about how he had assistant coaches on zoom call, they will be doing recruiting visits tonight and this week, and that he is allowed to go to the Fox pregame shows Fri/Sat since not much to do at that time. BS out recruiting until they get successor. He sounded really upbeat. Talked about how it was the players that put him in the OU HOF, etc.

Not sure Kelly would do well in the land of Cajun.
Yeah that doesn’t make a lot of sense unless LSU is desperate and is willing to break the bank on him. Even then I don’t get why he’d be interested, ND can pay him whatever he wants and he doesn’t have to go through the SEC west meat grinder.

Washington is expected to hire Fresno State’s Kalen DeBoer as its next head coach, sources tell

If Jeff Tedford is healthy enough and interested in coaching again, I think Fresno brings him back. He was great and only left because of health issues that have apparently improved since he's been gone.

Pete Thamel says it is happening. I guess I should stop being surprised.

Miles and Orgeron weren't paragons of virtue, but at least they didn't kill anyone on the job. How does one school go from Saban to BK in only 3 "generations?" Just worse each hire.

And this is a really bad fit. Even Deion Sanders would be better. I just can't picture him going down there and building rapport with Louisiana families enough to recruit like the other 3. BK must know he can't win a natty at ND, and at the same time, LSU almost had the pick of anyone they wanted. Just don't get it. I guess money talks.

Saban had only ever coached in the Midwest before he went to Baton Rouge, and Miles had been in Oklahoma and Texas but was also a Midwest guy for the most part. Winning solves a lot of problems.
