Peacock’s framerate seems to be in the 12-16FPS range this morning. My brain is not capable of the required smoothing to not make this a headache-inducer.

Before the match they were talking about how important Danny Rose’s veteran presence would be. I think he’s absolutely providing what he has his entire career- failed expectations and dogshit play.

Si senor. That was way too easy. Nice job by Firmino to stay behind the ball there. Not sure what the two center backs were doing.

Taiwo Awoniyi keeps on scoring for Union Berlin. Despite the fact it was a club record signing, it is looking to be a serious bargain at only around USD 9 million. He's got 6 goals already this season. Union is up on Wolfsburg, 1-0.

astride the divide
Josh Sargent just missed a wide open net--Sanchez came way outside the 18-yard box and basically whiffed on it, Sargent had a clean shot and just didn't put any mustard on the ball at all, it was cleared.

Sheraldo Becker heads one in to make it 2-0, for what should be Union's first ever win against Wolfsburg in any competition.

Shit, maybe peacock is worth it?

Over on cable, Wolves spend all match gifting the ball to Villa, but have clawed one back with 10 to go.

Edit: the announcer just had me howling though. Fabio Silva tries some very awkward spinning volley and completely whiffs to land on his ass.

“Silva tries for..the spectacular? Can you explain, Lee?”

“no, I really can’t.”

double edit: Wolves knot it up when Villa fails to clear a corner. A huge let down for the home side. 5 lazy minutes let 3 points slip away.

Oh my. At the death, Traore goes on an in-cutting dribble and gets clipped from behind just outside the box. Neves steps up to take the free kick, tries to bend on around the wall, but it deflects off Targett and into corner of the net. What a punch in the guy for Villa.

I'm not sure if this is the worst pathetic miss I've ever seen, but I'm struggling to think of one that was worse.

Sargent had dribbled around Sanchez, had the ball on his foot, wide open goal - like literally no one in front of it - and the next Brighton defender about 20 yards away. He flubbed this 2 mph dribbler toward the goal and some Brighton dude sprinted over and cleared it - with a few yards to spare.

If he hit it with even the pace of your average ping back and forth between center-backs in build-up play, it's in the net easily.

Chelsea 1-0 up at 83’ but almost let one get loose in front of goal.

have Not been as good in attack as they should be on paper. Haven’t figured out their best combo &tactics for getting steady supply to their forwards. Their fullbacks are much better than their midfield who are doing little.

Utd are similar imo- embarrassment of riches in attack but don’t know how to set them up. Difference is Chelsea defense.

I think Everton have to be happy to get out of that half nil-nil, even though Iwobi’s whiff has been the chance of the match so far.

With any justice Newcastle would get relegated to League 1. This is disgusting. The players are doing their combat racism take a knee thing all the while letting these murderers own the team.

To be clear … the Premier League statement about combatting racism is an utter joke in the face of this atrocity.

Sergio Reguilón got the referee's attention right before a corner and he stopped play. Another Tottenham player ran over to the bench to get a trainer with an AED.

It's an incredible moment of humanity from the players, but hard not to wonder if the reaction would have been the same before the Christian Eriksen incident.

Neither my NBC Sports app on my TV or through the XBox show EPL games as available. I have to load it on the phone and stream it.

Just finished watching the replay. Toffees had some halfway decent spells but nothing with much conviction. WH didn't either to be fair although they had much more of the ball. WH goal was off a corner.

Iwobi was atrocious. Academy product and scouser Anthony Gordon had a solid game at Old Trafford last week and deserved the start. Not only did Iwobi whiff twice, he just offered nothing in the transition to attack, always heavy touches or runs down blind alleys. That's just death for Everton's style now.

First game of the season where I'm disappointed in both the effort and in RB's tactics.
