Haha, no I want the public humiliation to play out. Let's see the slink back to the booth. I need this.
Nah we don’t want them to stumble onto someone competent. He should get another chance to see if they stop everyone from “closing the gap” some more.

OK, wait, one more important thing here. Assume for the moment that the Sox do *not* go on to win the pennant. How do we memorialize this win on the banners outside Fenway? Can't be white because they didn't win the division. Can't be blue or red if they don't win the pennant/flag. What is the proper banner design for a one-off WC win over the Yankees? A picture of Nelson Muntz?

@dirtynine, the bat signal is out for you.

We’re not the Colts or Tar Heels.

They should paint a red seat at the spot on the wall hit by The Stantonian Single

The modern age of baseball arguably began in 2003 with the publication of Moneyball. Bone’s Yankees won the pennant that year, but in the eighteen years since, Yankee Elimination Day has occurred before the World Series every year but one.

There are no banners for 1998 or 1999 or 2003 or 2008 or 2009, right? No banner for 2021 unless they get to the World Series.

Maybe they can paint "Unlucky Dent" on the dent Stanton made on the Monster in his first AB.

Some friends of certain persuasion got this greeting today, from the heart of Brooklyn. Lil'O wanted to take the piss out of some Yankee friends at school.

See, the Colts equivalent would be if the *Yankees* put up a banner to commemorate the loss. And I'm not advocating for a triumphal arch--the vibe we're going for is "petty."

EDIT: I love the ideas above of commemorating the wall strike spot, maybe with a cute little "1B". Just for the first series, though.

THIS! They would never actually do it, but it's fun to imagine.
Maybe they could just put a dab of different color paint on the spot so it's visible to those in the know, without ever acknowledging it, but we all could call it the Unlucky Dent forever.

How about white with navy blue pinstripes? And make the font look Yankee-like as well

The thought of these losers below crying 27 rings to themselves tonight fills me with joy.

This is great but I always enjoyed the version where the jersey guy was putting toppings on a pizza.

The fucking postmortem on Around the Horn is exhausting and has no acknowledgment whatsoever the the Red Sox were the superior team, if only for the night. MFY homers, the lot of ‘em.

Severino the stevedore is the best. Wonder how he's doing after last night.
Thats the one I remember the best:

Sevy released the last 10-plus years of pain and uselessness and self-hatred. "FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU. FUUUUCK YOU." He couldn't stop. The words were setting him free.

I am a long time lurker here on SOSH. I remember someone wrote a brilliant post that gave a fictional backstory to each of the idiots in this gif. It was gold. Anyone know how I would go about finding that (or even know what I am talking about).
I'm pretty sure this was in the 2010 playoffs against the Rangers. (Which Rangers won of course). I think Nelson Cruz caught a flyball or base hit near the wall and the A-Holes harassed him. Notice the big fellow saying...."Bleep you asshole!!!!" Ok I see the captions. It's game 4 of the 2010 ALCS.

I forgot to add to my list of why this game was perfect the Sterling gaff call for the ages. Already a Google staple. You love to see it.
