He has a history of being pretty brutal toward Cam (like all of last season) and I'm not saying it'll come into play, but he's also very openly maga on social media. It's probably not the best look.

There’s no way that with all the historic baggage you can say a black quarterback is distracted by listening to rap music and dancing between plays and have that statement not be labeled racist.

It’s honestly one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard, not just for being racially tinged, but why would a nobody QB like Zolak think he has any insight into how an MVP like Cam should stay loose or focused.

It’s not like nearly all American sports don’t play music - often rap - between or during plays. Are fighters and batters distracted by walk out music?

What a dumb take that almost feels like it went out of its way to be ignorant.

College practices and now a lot of NFL practices they blast music the entire practice. So yea, probably not the best thing to say if you're Zo.

Well, yeah and every gym in the world and 90+% of people running outside. I would dance a little between rounds or even sing during them to stay loose. Whatever Cam may be after injury and surgery, he’s one of the most successful athletes of all time, so I’m sure he’s found what works for him. Pity Zolak never found a routine that allowed him to be a good QB.

You nailed it Rocky.

Zo manages to mix and match a Jimmy the Greek foot in the mouth eloquence about breeding, with a racist trope that brings to mind the natural dancing abilities of the negro.

One minor disagreement, Zo doesn't have to go out of his way to be ignorant. Its always on his way home.

This is such a perfect post I'm pretty sure I'll plagiarize the bulk of it for a couple different Boston sports-centric group chats I'm on. Thank you for summarizing my feelings perfectly. (I hope) he gets at the very least suspended, if not fired, and he will whine about cancel culture. And so we beat on...(speaking of plagiarizing)

I think Zolak gets distracted from calling the game when he sings along to that Outfield song around the 3rd quarter when it gets played at Gillette.

Seriously, he gets paid by the team. Not a great business decision to not only go full heel against a particular player, but making it tinged with race; kinda puts you in a hole. He can fall back to Barstool, but would throw away a pretty good gig over what, to make a "hot take"?

Maybe he’s just kind of a racist asshole?

I'm curious to see what Kraft does about this. Anything short of requiring Zolak to make a public apology before he calls another game for the team will disappoint me.

Brandon Merriweather was just on Toucher & Rich with Wallach & Adam Jones today. He called out Zolak and called him an idiot for his comments. It was around the 9:30 AM mark.

During the game, Zolak had at l east 3 moments where he said that Mac Jones needs to get better at body language and that Cam is an excellent teacher at that aspect. After the 3rd time he said something to that effect, I am convinced that was part of his mea culpa.

That was really odd. Someone on Twitter said Beetle had a concerned look when he got up, but I am only listening.

Yeesh, I wonder if there was a threat to the building or something? Total speculation by the way. Hopefully something as simple as a fire alarm.

This caller Jake in Boston is an absolutely awful caller. His schtick of obsessing over Instagram accounts of players' wives, etc. is bordering on stalking.
He’s the fucking worst. Dude needs to get a life and for these people to block his ass on Instagram.

What is wrong with Zolak?

On today’s show he has said:

Bledsoe threw a touchdown to Michael Timpson with his injured finger. This was in 98 and Timpson’s last year with the team was in 94.

On Bill saying Vinatieri was the best player on the team at the start of 01, Zo thought it was Curtis Martin.

Ben Coates sat with Ted Johnson on the duck boats following the 01 Super Bowl.

Matt Cassel was the QB when David Patten was knocked out in Buffalo.

Jake from Boston called in today and realized how little the hosts pay attention to him. I doubt it knocked him down a peg

"Yea so the first thing I won't be talking about is the thing I told you guys about this weekend......"
Beetle and Zo: what are you talking about...? Huh?
JFB: Oh. Robert Kraft was at the Celtics game this weekend with (someone, I stopped paying attention) and I emailed you guys pictures of them
Hosts: ....ok......

Honestly sports radio in Boston shouldn’t ever take calls from Jake from Boston anymore. No one gives a shit about him stalking the IGs of the players wives or girlfriends. He’s a lunatic stalker.

Honestly in terms of sports radio callers, he's by far the fucking creepiest. He's got way too much time on his hands to stalk everyone on Facebook and is so invested in these people's personal lives. Based upon the video below I can conclude a few things:

1 - He seems to have enough money to go to Super Bowls and have season tickets so he's not homeless.
2 - He's a fucking loser who's blurring out his identity on the local news. What an ego maniac thinking he's worthy of being blurred out.
3 - He's now a Bucs Season Ticket holder

Jake in Boston called today rattling off a list of 5 or 6 names of Patriots’ significant others who were at the Celtics game last night.
I don't listen to this show, but what do the hosts say? Do they like this type of content? It seems gross.

They take his call everyday and frankly they shouldn’t anymore. The guy is a major creep.
That is creepy behavior. I'm not sure why anyone would want or need that information.

"Guys! Nick Folk's wife was at the Celtics game last night. HACHIE MACHIE!"
"Uhm, sounds like a fun night for her? Next caller ..."

I really hope that Patriots & NFL Security is looking into this guy. Players wives should be able to get together and go to basketball game without it being broadcast over the radio. Also, I message from security should be relayed to the station manager that they should really stop taking this guys calls.

The hosts really need to call him out or at least stop taking his calls. Like ask him why he cares so much about it? Is there any significance to this information? Tell him he's a creep and no more calls.

They have call screeners... they keep putting him on the air. This is on the hosts and producers.

Beetle mentioned a week or two ago the show is split on having him on the show. The producer Tom Morgan is open about not wanting him on. not sure about hardy. He calls multiple shows on both stations (Zo & Beetle, merloni, mutt). I'm sure some shows don't take his calls.

Everyone's favorite caller got about 12 seconds yesterday, starting talking about the wives and got hung up on.

It really does seem like Jake in Boston kind of represents the direction the fans want the station to go in. Only seems natural after the hosts on most of the shows on 98.5 spend so much time talking about sports adjacent drama and spend so little time on actual on-field discussion and analysis. Of course their fans think gossip and players wives are fair game. Pathetic.

I just had to turn it off just now because of him. He's awful and he's getting worse. I used to be able to tolerate him but at this point, he calls in, I just turn the radio off.

Not sure if you heard this part but at some point this week they were talking about him and his plans to develop an algorithm that looks at players’ WAGS social media accounts and compares that to the players’ performance that week. Basically, he thinks that the more a player’s wife posts on social media, the worse the player plays. He said he’s hoping to be able to sell the algorithm to sports gambling sites to help them set lines.

Beetle, Zo, and the producer must have their heads very far up their asses. I have no idea if anyone is listening to their show to hear this creepy shit, but they gotta back away from this content. It literally has nothing to do with sports, and do they really wanna be answering questions about how they gave a stalker/creep a platform when the guy gets a restraining order or something?

I have never actually heard one of their calls with this guy. How do they handle it? Do they just let him talk about whatever internet stalking he’s been doing that week and then move on?

Sometimes they give him a lot of leeway and they let him go on. Usually he goes into insane conspiracy theories. Today it was "the niece posted in IG and the entire Brady clan was at the game. She goes to school at UCLA (or USC. Some CA school but he knew which) so why would the whole Brady family fly out there? THEY ALL KNOW IT WAS HIS LAST GAME!!"
