It has to be Bruno Fernando no?
I think so, as far as I can tell, he’s the only Bruno on the Hawks.

Saves about 5 mil, gives room to resign Fournier and gets an option at back up PG. I liked Fernando as a bench big prospect but haven’t followed his pro career.

Yeah I assume that's a brain fart from Woj and he meant Bruno Fernando.
Fernando played a little in 2019, then less in 2020, he was bad as a rookie, he was probably one of the 10 worst players in the league as a sophmore. I'd be surprised if he doesn't just get cut and we eat his salary.
Dunn is probably not very good, but he's a body who can defend even if his offensive contribution is negative, good for depth and they get off TTs contract (picked up a 2nd that could get moved in a trade too) so it's a solid deal.

Dunn is a very poor man's Marcus. He's a 6'4" PG who can't shoot at all but plays pretty good D.

Wow, didn't see this coming. Also didn't realize Kris Dunn was that old. Hopefully he can regain his form because the version a few years ago is a nice fit.

Don't really know much about Bruno.

Dunn $5m + Bruno $1.8m - TT $9.7m = $2.9m savings

I guess the downside is that TT was a usable NBA player, but YOLO. I'm petty sure addition by subtraction.

Plus 2023 2nd!

I always assumed they’d have to dump TT into someone’s cap space for nothing so actually getting a couple depth pieces back is a pleasant surprise.

Brad is doing a pretty good job so far - he’s quickly identified the pieces that need to go and has got back about as much value from those trades as could reasonably be expected.

Damn, Fernando has a 9'2 standing reach , 7'4.25 wingspan, 5.4% body fat.

Great athlete, strong and long. Still young. Who knows.

Fernando also shot 76% free throws in college. There is a slim chance there's a shooter in there somewhere. Seems like a fine lottery ticket.

Can also do QO next year on the off chance he's useful.

Fernando was 1-16 on non layups last season.

HRB fav Kris Dunn comes to Boston, possible to make Marcus Smart look like a marksman from three.

Also showed some decent passing skill at Maryland, but physical tools plus potential shooting touch, and the fact that he was late to playing hoops were the reasons I was on to him. Looking at his numbers with the Hawks is not encouraging though.

12-64 on jumpers in his two NBA seasons.

Probably hard to get into any kind of actual rhythm when you're playing 5 minutes a night, but obviously wouldn't count on him for anything.

Remember when like 10-20% of the Port Cellar wanted the Celts to draft Dunn with the 3rd pick in 2016?
It was way higher than that, way way higher. I get to not embarrass myself in these draft convos because I don’t watch college ball. Otherwise I probably would have wanted him too.

Fernando suuuucked as a Hawk.

I really wish we'd seen more of Dunn - seemed like a great acquisition at the time given Atlanta's defensive needs - but he got injured and then for some reason could never get back into the rotation thereafter. Oh well.
I thought Dunn was a great add by the Hawks but turned out not to be the case. Primarily due to injury, it's true, but all the same -- my take home is that recalling Fernando and Dunn's draft day potential is a reminder not to get too excited about a lot of the guys drafted yesterday.

I was sure that we were going to have to staple a pick to TT to get him off the books if we couldn't combine him with Marcus for a $25 million player. I'm glad to get anything without losing value.

Dunn replaces Teague
More Titanic.

I’ve spoken often about a new GM’s need to reshuffle the deck with his own guys and to move on from the previous regime. Now this is a little different bc Brad was a part of the previous regime but not on the personnel side.....so it’s a little awkward but these are all expected type moves even if they do pretty much nothing to affect the teams future prospects. Yawn.

No excitement for Dunn on the Celtics?

You always have the inside scoop on him.
Cesar caught my last take on him a few weeks ago. Instead of looking for the post I’ll summaraize.......

* Never learned how to defend at NBA level without fouling.
* Rather than working on 3-pt shot a few summers ago, he returned being able to create his own 14-foot pull-up. Apparently he was taking 250 of those every day.
* Hired father as personal coach. Dad is awesome guy who loves his kid more than life itself if you know the story.....but he’s an ex-football player providing basketball training. Wtf.
* This one isn’t his fault but man how many injuries has this kid had in his career? Can’t stay on the floor.

He had no chance this past year as his preseason came with 6 weeks to go in the season and as expected he was awful. I always say these are great buy low opportunities so maybe with a full summer something changes. I’m hopeful but my expectations are low.

Well, we got the 2nd round pick and were able to extend/consolidate the trade exceptions.
