Bloom currently putting the finishing touches on the "We are acquiring Chris Sale, so we're really trade deadline winners" statement that he'll be giving to the media shortly.

I can’t remember a more aggressive buying deadline than this. Buyers are pushing all their chips in across the board. It’s insane

It's like a post-pandemic phenomenon of everyone going to the beach and renting cars all at once. Last year was such a dud, everyone is going nuts this year.

I don't mean this as a knock to the Sox - but I think the AL teams are all seeing a bit of weakness at the top and middle of the league and an open door into the playoffs could mean a real shot at getting the right to get demolished by the Dodgers or Padres.

Plus, no waiver wire. Make your move now and live with it.

Question - is it proper GM etiquette not to turn around and trade a guy you just acquired (Voit) to that team's rival (Boston) within 30 minutes of acquiring said player (Voit)?

Kris Bryant has actually played first base, so he has that going for him over Schwarber.

Bloom likely has his eyes on a couple of smaller auction items waiting to see if the bids are lower now that everyone blew their bankroll on the bigger items.

I’d be satisfied with a good glove 1b like Eyechart at this point. If the plan is for Schwarber to play first, I don’t want Buckner redux in the late innings. I really felt Rizzo would have been a perfect fit here.

Richard Rodriguez still out there, have to think Pirates are going to cash him in and the cost will be more moderate than several of these deals....

Harold Reynolds: "Javier Baez is the most entertaining player in all of baseball". Given his level of analysis + his history of sexual harassment, I can never figure out how he's still employed.

So does Chaim think they're just fine as is or is he cooking with about six stoves right now? Because I don't really see anything in between with today's lack of noise from him

So "not willing to pay the asking prices" isn't a thing? Or is it only the extremes?

If you take a large negative number, and multiply it by another large negative number, you get a really large positive number.
