If the refs would just fucking call the game to allow skilled players more breathing room neither the Blues or Habs would have a prayer.

I don't think even the 80s Oilers could win more than twice with this crap.
It's a world class sport with half ass officiating, some nights it borders on criminally negligent.

That non call on a slew foot right in front of a referee that resulted in the game winning goal in game 5 of the 2019 finals says hello.

If we're being fair, the Canadiens have been very strong on special teams. 27 straight penalty kills, which just set the NHL playoff record. They've also scored a powerplay goal in four of their last eight games, including Caufield's goal last night (courtesy of Mark Stone's neutral zone giveaway). I'm not sure if that's what you are referring to exactly, but it does have to be pointed out. It's not like the Habs have had favorable reffing this series either (missed Perry's nose whack, missed Suzuki taking a punch right in front of the ref, bad call on a Suzuki hook.)

Wild shot by Mayfield, this has been an awesome game.

Play Matt Martin in the last 6 minutes of an elimination game, win stupid prizes.

Martin's right though, Maroon lifted his stick into his own face LOL

That’s an absolutely absurd snipe by Mayfield.
Yeah, this is going seven, Tampa scored 12 strait goals vs the Islanders and had all the momentum, now they go and blow a 2-0 lead and their leading scorer is out of this game, who knows if he comes back for game seven.

Leading scorer is out b/c of a heinous unpenalized cross check by Mayfield

I feel bad for Kucherov, after the grueling regular season he went through to deal with an injury at a time like this... oh wait. I don't endorse the carte blanche the refs are handing the Isles but I have trouble feeling any sympathy for a player who was "injured" the whole year so his team could abuse the salary cap. It'd be fucking awesome if the Bruins could add a world-class player at the start of the playoffs with no cap repercussions too, they'd probably still be playing now.

I don't get why the NHL wants to showcase this style of play... but another uncalled crosscheck like that... it's sad...

They absolutely have to address the cross checking that is going on in this league right now. It has reached absurd levels, and the hypocrites at the league level simply can't say they are doing anything in the name of "player safety" until they do.

At the risk of sounding Fordian, they should have fired DeBoer before game 5.

As a Habs fan, I honestly feel indifferent about the goalies VGK puts out there. I don't think Fleury has been unbeatable this series, and Lehner played really well in Game 4. Kind of a curious move to pull Fleury after his mistake (it happens), but it worked out. They have to find a way to get the puck up on Lehner though or the Knights will absolutely force a game 7.

A Habs fan.

With a Whalers avatar.

You must feel so conflicted.

Ha! There is some conflict, although I was a little young to remember that Whalers run. When I was a kid I just knew the Bruins and Whalers had their rivalry so I didn't want to be a Bruins fan, and I have some French Canadian roots so I just adopted them as my team. I do recognize the irony though now of course, and I know a lot of those fans did become B's fans.

In my freshman year at UConn was 85-86. So on 4/29/86 you had Clemens 20k game and also had Whales v Habs game 7 that Montreal won in OT. Having to deal with all the Whaler fans I don't know what made happier Clemens or Montreal winning. The only time I ever rooted for them. Until this year against the Leafs. Hopefully not the same ending.

What the hell happened to Vegas? They look like they’re not even close to the same level as Montreal

So about 3,000 or so fans are allowed into the arena due to COVID, but fans are elbow to elbow outside.

Seems reasonable.

Also, HNiC pointed out that the last 12 Habs goals have been scored within 7 seconds of entering the o-zone/faceoff. It's almost like they're not willing to set up and let Vegas catch up.
