So here's the thing... Jabari Parker is bad at everything, I can't think of anyone on the main roster he's better than.... I assume it's Wagner who gets cut, but it's not really an improvement. Just a weird signing, he's absolute garbage and there are better players unsigned.

Heh, I guess he's better than some of the back end of the bench if he's healthy. And he never is and never will be.

I worry more about his attitude than his skills. He's always been able to score, but he changes teams so often that I had him pegged as a locker room cancer.

He never was all that good at scoring honestly, he had 1 good year in 2016-17 otherwise he was a high volume low efficiency gunner. Also he's not even close to that player anymore with all the knee injuries.

If the 15th man on the roster is a locker room problem it's very easily solvable

There is no way this guy is worse than Wagner

Over/under on how many days until Parker is out due to health and safety protocols?

Why would Ainge sign him to a two-year deal?
This is fairly common to convince a FA to accept a team option for year 2. This protects the team from losing the player should he impress and be productive. The team giving him the “tryout” gets a cheap second year if it works out.

He's not much better. I feel like there are unsigned guys who are better than both. If it were a move for a guy who could shoot maybe, but Parker is a bad defender who can't hit 3s anymore, I just don't see what the role is for a mediocre midrange scorer who can't defend.

Who are the unsigned guys that are better?

Santa Monica
Gerald Green, Glenn Robinson III, Wilson Chandler, and honestly maybe even Kyle Korver are all guys I think are more likely to have a skill that adds to this team.
maybe it's an age/maturity thing, where they want that cheap option next season?

More importantly, which wing does Parker replace in the starting lineup, Tatum or Brown?

I'm with CD on this, makes no sense.
Isn’t it worth a flyer that Jabari can perform better than Semi into next season? Zero risk and if it works out you fill a role. I’m pretty sure he can still drop 20 in his sleep on any given night. That carries enough value right there to see what’s left in the tank. Maybe this min deal will set off a lightbulb that he needs to give max effort and defend if he wants to stick in the league......he’s never had to feel this way before as he could always score.

I don't know Parker well enough to understand why this is such a bad addition. I take all of your word for it, but it's weird how statistically he seems like a guy who can play.

Some of us are fine with it. It's a risk free move and the C's could always use more offense off the bench if it works out.

Yes, and the roster is more balanced and logically constructed now. The C's didn't need five centers (including Tacko).

To your point - and about his bad defense: https://www.blogabull.com/2018/11/19/18100488/jabari-parker-experiment-failure-bulls

The best positive spin I can think of is that he's shown he can score in the post (pre-injures), is an okay rebounder, and supposedly has a great handle although I'm not sure where that's gotten him. Can't believe that draft day, I so wanted the C's to pick him and was convinced he'd be the next Paul Pierce

+1. He'll be occupying the 15th roster spot. He's probably league average for a player in the 15th roster spot. I do not understand the angst.

I definitely expect Jabari to see second unit minutes. He wasn’t signed with a team option to rot on the bench. This is a guy who as recently as last season was scoring 15 ppg on 55 eFG% and I expect Brad to be mandated by Ainge to get him minutes to see if he’s a guy that can fit into our second unit next year.

I agree, they know they need one more rotation piece and they are seeing if he can be it. I doubt it works but it is worth a shot.

Brad will play him if JP starts playing some defense, so maybe about 30% chance of that.

Semi-Grant-Nesmith-Romeo all have (thus far!) shown themselves to be high-effort-character/low-results guys.

Parker seems like a shot at seeing if maybe a little more pure talent might help out, even if it comes in a less attractive package.

Sure, if he's able to crack the top 12, he's definitely an upgrade over Wagner. Maybe it works; maybe it doesn't. If it doesn't, they didn't exactly give up anything.

Ainge obviously scouted the crap out of Parker in his draft year.

Worth a flyer. Certainly hasn’t been in the best situations recently.
