Kevin Smith just tweeted the C's are still engaged in deals but only to dump some fodder to get under the luxury tax.
Looks like of the minor housekeeping variety to clear contracts to get under the luxury tax line and free up a buyout slot (as if we'd actually get anyone half decent).

I would take him on trh Celtics for the same two seconds they sent to ORL
Current Evan Fournier is a better player than Current Victor Oladipo.
Add in that he leaves you a nice little $11M in the TPE pool, and he's more likely to be re-signable at a rate you want, and it is a no-brainer.

edit: Keith.
Makes sense. They don't think they can contend now and probably don't want to pay the trade+contract price for Collins or Ball. Now you go into the summer with Smart+TT making it very easy to salary match almost anybody, and look for a Brogdon-type S&T. If the Celtics 1st is mid 1st round that doesn't hurt either.

I think Oladipo would want more of an offensive load than Fournier too. He'd be less happy here.

Not that much, at least for this season. He's going to get significantly more than Fournier this offseason I'd imagine. He'd be interesting but I'm really curious what the Jays can do with someone who can actually shoot the 3.
An extra $4M is another player the Cs have to get rid of. I think Fournier is a good fit and there's probably more likelihood he will re-sign since Oladipo turned down what is rumoured to be a mac extension from HOU.

If only Theis had hit that 3-pointer last nite ...

I'll miss him. He played his ass off, often against much bigger centers.

If TL can take a leap then cool but pretty wild to suddenly have 0 floor-stretching bigs on the roster. I guess count Grant if you like but he is not good so I choose not to count him.

Mo Wagner, if memory serves, played well and with a ton of energy in the Wizards' recent rout of Boston.

Wagner for Theiss...seems weird. Wagner has some offensive game, but stinks defensively.

Mo Wagner seems like the kind of player who should be an excellent 3 point shooter but isn't.

Theis doesn't really stretch the floor is the problem--teams are mostly fine leaving him wide open. Wagner also can probably become a similarly meh shooter--he shot 39% his last year in college, and is a pretty good FT shooter (~80%).

This really feels like the Celtics knew Theis was gone--he's going to get the MLE or a bit above I'd guess.

Could potentially develop a decent outside game too. Turns 24 soon though and his option was already declined. For a dump, he's not a bad player.
