One thing that is clear from the Jaguars stuff is that free agents may not be taking a discount to go to NE, but at least we don't have to pay the Jacksonville premium.

They have 8, 39, 73

Edit: Gilmore + 15 + ?? for 8??
I was literally just looking at that when I saw that post lol.

I think they may have to get to 5 or 6 to get 1 of the big 4, though.

By the way, this all shows how stupid the "legal tampering period" is. The legal tampering period *BEGAN* at noon today. In theory, this is when teams are allowed to INITIATE CONTACT with these players (through their agents). Yet all these guys are SIGNED within minutes/hours of the legal tampering period STARTING. Pretty obviously there had been negotiations going on for a while. Which....is tampering. It's so dumb.

(But it makes for a fun day today!)

NFL clearly going to investigate the Pats because this clearly damages the integrity of the game. The contracts will all be invalidated and the Patriots will lose 2 first round picks...

[Insert obvious but SoSH-chided joke about NFL stealing more draft picks from Patriots for league-wide accepted behaviors]

Cincinnati at 5?? They have their QB.
Yeah, I think Jags/Jets/Falcons should all take QB, Miami probably won't, but could trade back to someone who needs one, but if they draft a player, getting to 5 might be necessary.

I doubt the Eagles would draft a QB at 6, but if they don't, they should trade down as Lions should be drafting a QB at 7.

So 8 feels too late unless teams really don't like 1 of Fields/Lance for some reason.

Probably. Thus the incentive laden part. Holt/Wayne type.
Sure, but I wouldn't really want that as part of the plan. I wouldn't mind that after going after guys that you have a better idea about first. That type of deal will always be out there.

Feel like there are guys with a lot more upside who'll likely command similar money: Higgins, Hilton, Cole.
Agreed. If AJ gets close to the money that those guys get, I want nothing to do with him. I would think based on age and injury, AJ would struggle to match those names.

Hilton maybe not, but most places seem to project AJ in the 6-7M a year range, and I would guess Higgins will be there too, Cole maybe less

I believe that the Steelers have figured out something about drafting WRs. For everyone else it's a dart throw, and the Patriots' failings are just small sample size.
Draft a shitton of wide receivers and throw the ball a ton and you'll hit a bunch? James Washington, Dri Archer, Sammie Coates, Limas Sweed, Markus Wheaton are all second and third round picks drafted in the past 11 years who didn't really work out (some made some plays here and there).

I dont disagree. If they have the $ for a more proven guy, I def would prefer it

What the fuck how do the Chiefs even have the cap space for Thuney?

The cap gymnastics the Chiefs are doing to make this work have to be pretty impressive. I think it's a really good signing for them given how that SB went and the loss of their two tackles, but they're gonna need to keep hitting cheap talent in the draft to avoid some painful cuts.

Any chance they signed him to play Tackle at that price after cutting Fisher + Schwartz?

Cutting their starting tackles and restructuring the Mahomes deal netted them a ton of cap space.

That Frank Clark deal sticks out like a diseased thumb on their books.

Do we know how much cap room the Patriots have left?
Virtually impossible to say precisely until we know the structures of the deals (bonus, guarantees, first year salary). Since they started the day with like 65M in space, It’ll be well north of 25M of remaining space, I expect, as the AAVs of these deals almost certainly won’t correspond to the cap charges this year.

Right? Do they know he is a guard?
He played LT at NC State & some emergency snaps at RT in 2019.

So maybe they think he can handle playing T with the idea that if he fails, at least they can swap him back inside.

Moving offensive linemen out of position didn't exactly work out for them in the Super Bowl.
