One thing I've noticed is the willful ignorance used to believe that Brady had nothing to do with the Seahawks victory because Butler made one play at the end of the game. Some people have decided to forget the two absolutely money drives Brady put together in the fourth quarter against one of the best secondaries of all time.
The only SB where Brady did not put his team ahead in the 4th Quarter was the 2011 SB where he was ahead till the end (but the Pats failed to score on any drive after the TD early in the 3rd Q), so by his extreme standards, he came up small in that game.

It is seriously insane how clutch he has been in his career.

Yes, and 2nd half performance in the ATL game as well. Sure, the ATL coaches deserve their fair share of criticism, but there was no room for error (party due to Brady himself). Some of the throws he made on the final drive (and in OT) were otherworldly.

Oh yeah, I forgot he gets no credit for the AFCC win in KC because of the stupid offsides called on Dee Ford. It was the right call, of course. But that's just Brady being lucky. No mention of converting 3 straight 3rd and longs in OT.
And also how people forget that clearly hobbled Gronk let the ball go right through his hands. That was a very unlucky interception. And the offsides was the right call. And Brady was nails on those third down conversions.

The amazing thing about Tom Brady is that he not only has the insane team success - like nobody that's ever played the game before - but he also has incredible *individual* success - awards and stats.

- League MVPs: 3 (2nd all time)
- SB MVPs: 5 (1st all time)
- 4,000 yard seasons: 12
- 35 TD seasons: 5
- 110.0+ passer rating seasons: 3
- one of the greatest individual seasons of all time (2007): 68.9%, 4,806 yds, 50 td, 8 int, 117.2 rating, 24 AV
- one of only 3 guys to ever throw 50 td in a season
- 24 AV is the most in any single season ever for a QB

The list goes on, including career numbers that reflect both excellence and longevity. He's the perfect mix of team and individual greatness.

He's also going to retire with every major passing stat. First in p-refs AV. First in weighted AV. Two all decade teams (and crazy as it is a possibility of a third....)

Assuming Brees retires, a typical Brady year will catch him in completions.

He will not retire as the leader in passer rating or completion %.

The only way he could possibly get a third All Decade is if the Bucs theeepeat and Tom has an MVP season somewhere in there. But hey, as insane as that is I'm not even willing to rule it out at this point, the dude's life is a fairy tale.

There's no way, unless something catastrophic happens to guys like Jackson, Mahomes, Watson, Herbert, Allen, Murray, potentially Trevor Lawrence, that Brady, who might play, at most 3 more seasons, would get an all-decade nod playing like 4 seasons of the 2020s.

There were like 4-5 guys on the last all decade team that retired in 2015. Megatron, Mankins, Willis retired in 2014, Hill wasn't even drafted until 2016. Revis missed a year AND was basically cooked by 2015 and still made it.
Is it likely ? Lol of course not. But the first two weren't that likely either given their context. Anyone going to think in 2003 or so that Tom Brady will be all decade? Anyone going to think around 2012-2013 that he wins the following one as well? If Brady is serious about continuing to play, and his play doesn't do what happened to Manning, and he gets another 3-4 years and wins another, it's going to be hard to put someone above him who didn't win. I didn't say it was impossible in the sense it could never, ever happen. I'm saying it's not going to. Other QBs are going to win Super Bowls after Brady retires, and the trend right now is that teams need a stud QB to win. If that continues, and Mahomes doesn't win every Super Bowl after Brady retires, you're likely going to have some other QB with ridiculous numbers in this new era that has at least 1 title under his belt.

These guys aren't QBs. You can get away with guys at other positions having 4-5 great years and getting named to the team, but a QB with less than a full decade of dominant play isn't getting named to the all decade team unless they've received multiple MVPs and played at least 7-8 years. It's absolutely not possible for Brady.

It's going to be tight for them. They only have 30 guys signed for next year right now so their current $38M in cap space per spotrac is pretty tenuous. Clearly, there will be restructurings and other things of that nature but they have a lot of key guys as UFA:

Shaq Barrett
Lavonte David
Gronk
Suh
Fournette
AB
Godwin

I think Godwin is surely a goner. Barrett might be as well since somebody is going to throw him major money. I could see Gronk, Suh, Fournette, AB running it back for reasonable money. Next year's team won't be as talented as this year's team but it should still be pretty good.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2021/
I’m in the Tampa area and I think, based on reading some tea leaves and some local reports:
- Godwin gets tagged
- Brady, Evans, Jensen and Donovan Smith restructure to free up some cap space.
- Barrett and David take small pay cuts and re-sign
- Brown and Gronk come back on team friendly deals to continue playing with TB
- Fournettte and Suh are gone
- Brate gets cut or massively restructures his contract.

Pictures of Brady and many others celebrating mask-less (family, friends, other players) on his multi-million dollar boat in Tampa:
TONE-F******-DEAF. I was happy for Brady until I saw the photos.
I'm not sure if I've seen more than one photo of Brady wearing a mask properly. He's clearly anti-mask.
Even his parents, who both had COVID, have tried to talk him into it

"It’s serious. I mean, if we’re not wearing masks, we’re really missing the point,” Tom Brady Sr. told Andrea Kremer in an interview with NFL Network. "You know what? He’s 43 years of age. We keep harping on it. Frankly, he thinks his body, with … he probably takes 45 pills a day. So far, God willing, he’s still healthy. But the answer is yes, we do [tell him to wear a mask]."

Brady has always been pretty blind to big issues like this (not excusing it), we knew that when he got in trouble back in the spring for violating local rules in order to hold practices with his new teammates. I would've hoped that his parents catching pretty rough cases of Covid would turn him around on it, but I guess not.

That’s pretty weird. He actually strikes me as a naive follower, so one would think the missives about the safety benefits of wearing masks would have penetrated his brain, but then again - for better and worse - once he gets an idea in his head he’s committed to it. Evidently that one didn’t get through to him.

Based on his comments on nutrition and training in the past, he also strikes me as someone who is prone to buy into alternative training/medicine because it is often packaged in Tony Robbins-speak that appeals to him. If only public health professionals could talk like health and fitness gurus!

Yeah, that's the curious part. By his account, his parents had really tough battles with it. If that doesn't get you to shape up on this issue, what will? Brady has always struck me as being kind of naive. I think tunnel vision has both helped and hurt him.

Tagging Godwin at $16+ seems unwise with Evans’ cap hit of $16+, no?

They will gain $14.25 million in cap space if they cut Donovan Smith which they should do. I'd expect an extension for Jensen to lower his $10 million cap number. They have a decision to make with Howard and Brate. One can be cut and save just over $6 million.

Smith has a bad rep but I think he really came on this year. Apparently he was PFF's highest-graded Buc on offense for the Super Bowl. He's not a top-tier LT but he's fine. I wouldn't be surprised if they work out an extension to lower his 2022 hit and keep him around.

I don’t see why they would cut Smith rather than push his cap number down through an extension or converting salary to a signing bonus. After all, who are they replacing him with?

I’d let Godwin go before I went cheap at the tackle spot. They’re already saving money by having Wirfs on a rookie contract.

I just thought that would be a spot they could get a good player in the bottom of the first round of the draft, but I would agree with both of you that at the least he has to lower that number.

We've all been there before but I don't recall ever seeing Brady remotely tipsy during the prior 20 years
His boat was drifting down the Hillsborough River which was really choppy due to all of the boat traffic. I think most of us would get queasy.

Not sure if serious. When you get sea sick once you get off the boat it doesn't look like that.
I've lost count of the number of times I have been on a boat and someone has gotten sick because we were not moving fast. You don't feel better the second you walk off the boat, it takes a few minutes.

I agree, but did you watch the video? The goofy smile, being held up by the ? Bucs assistant? Yeah he wasn't sea sick

It is a luxury boat in a harbor, not a crab boat in the Bering Sea. I’ve never seen someone smiling and stumbling around so badly that someone had to escort him after a boat ride.

Maybe he was hammered, but the river was packed with other boats and it was really choppy. Point is, I have lost count of the times I have been boating here and have had people ask if we could start moving faster because people were getting sick. Maybe Brady's inner ear is the goat of inner ears.

BOATgate!

I literally have Brady haters sending me these videos. It’s embarrassing and off brand and not a good look but...ok, you got him I guess? The dude got drunk at the parade after winning his 7th SB.

Embarrassing? He’s killing the internet today. This was probably the best move he’s ever made for his brand. Goat gets bendy on $2 million dollar boat.

I was never a Brady fan when he was in NE but I think the fact that Brady showed up to his Super Bowl boat parade in his new boat and got totally shitfaced is absolutely hilarious. I’m right there with him minus the Lombardi trophy and $2 million boat.

The Bucs organization should be embarrassed. They trotted out the Tampa Bay health care workers as props during the super bowl and then celebrate like idiots today. The whole team looked just like the fans that were condemned by the Mayor of Tampa for partying without masks.
