Finally a guy I really like too. I have written about Uche and Baun before. Uche though can play the Collins or KVN role.

Pats going big time athleticism so far in the draft - gotta like that

Also no QB so far so I guess this means BB likes Stidham

Interesting that the Pats' D was top notch last year, and the offense was mediocre at best and lost the GOAT QB (and Gronk, but whatever) but have spent the first two picks on defense. People zig, BB zags. People zag, BB zigs...sometimes even zugs.

This guy is explosive and strong. Love the pick. @tims4wins - not at all sure he would have lasted longer. Excellent trade up to get a stud LB that they need.

Smile, brother, this is a good move.
Belichick couldn’t give two shits for the 60th vs 71st or 201st if he likes the player. It’s nothing to sweat over.

I have Uche as orange because we don't have athletic testing for him. Now THIS is a pick I can get behind.

Guys we have a theme tonight. Highly athletic positionless football kind of players. Uche is a stud. Can play edge, all LB positions, looks good in coverage. What a great pick.
great call by you—— and really interesting insight (in real time no less) on the strategy. Like Super Nomario last year on BB looking for big defensive backs. Now it’s positionless athletes.

Dudes, tims4wins is one of the best posters here regarding the Pats. He's good people. It's ok to be emotionally invested in the draft and to be disappointed and confused by how things are going. I think he'll be pleasantly surprised when it all shakes out but I totally get the initial reactions to these picks.

BB was at the Senior Bowl this year. I think he liked what he saw; I dont think this is a coincidence.

From cbssports' draft tracker:

Dugger: A
Dugger is an old prospect but ultra-versatile and a freak athlete. Perfect type of defender for Bill Belichick. Think Patrick Chung 2.0. Ridiculous range in run support. Playmaker in coverage.

Uche: A
Uche is ultra-versatile. Ranges sideline-to-sideline as off-ball linebacker then really flashes as an edge rusher with acceleration, speed-to-power, and awesome inside counter. Explosive. Patriots needed more juice on the outside. Nice young pairing with Chase Winovich.

Hard to not be excited about this.

Agreed - this is a game thread, being emotional and reacting is part of the deal.

It wouldn't be a Chiefs pick without the immediate jump cut to an "Off field issues" screen.

Where do they play this guy? He seems too small for an edge in the Pats' D. Are they thinking he's more of an inside linebacker?
He's basically the exact same size as Collins, Van Noy and Winovich, 6'2"-6'3" 250-255
He's a 1 for 1 replacement for those guys

This exactly. I mean the defense definitely regressed as the season went on, but it is still the strength of the team, especially now.
