This is where I'm at. If the NBA suspends the season - forfeiting ungodly amounts of money in the process - how can the NCAA keep the tournament going? I'd say there's less than a 1% chance it ends up happening, as between now and selection sunday we are going to see so many more institutions, leagues, etc., shutting down.

I mean, college athletic conferences are cancelling all spring sports. How can the NCAA say that we can't have the men's lacrosse teams cancel because of corona, but we MUST have the NCAA tournaments!

Well, money I guess. That's why.
The NCAA gets 90%+ of their operating revenue for the entire year from the men's NCAA tournament. All football money goes directly to the schools involved, the NCAA doesn't get a cut. If they cancel the tournament they effectively cancel their entire budget.

So you're saying we can now root for a situation that is both (A) the right thing to do from a public health perspective and may literally save lives, and (B) would result in the financial ruin of the NCAA?

Sign me right the fuck up.

I am 98% sure they wont come out after halftime. But that 2% is based on the fact they are too stupid to pull them off the floor now. What are they trying to prove?

As an aside. Why are cheerleaders at a game with no fans? Why expose them when there are no cheers to "lead"? Stupid shit.

You can't let the panic completely destroy the economy, esp given how weak it is. Delay the tourney by a month or so. Once the layoffs start flying, you'll start to get pushback on the closures.
