    Peter Gammons' Tweeterverse

Gammo has discovered the Inuit version of Toe Nash. Eqqndu. He wields a 50 ounce bat that carved from a narwhal tusk when he was child. Eqqndu has been barnstorming over the winter, and has defeated several semi-pro teams in Nunavut. The amazing thing is, he plays all 9 positions at once...

RIP Toucher and Rich Show ... It was fun while it lasted

I'm usually a fan, but yeah, the Red Sox bit is awful. Stretching Josh Beckett fat jokes over multiple mornings was a really lazy idea. It doesn't help that their buddies Mazz and CHB are concurrently squeezing the life out of the story in their columns.

I have to think the voting was influenced a bit by popularity. Gresh may have deserved to win, but Felger is exponentially more well-liked.

Eh, I'm with Gammo there. The "he's soft" camp deserves some ridicule, even if they were the vast majority. A lot of these same people were beginning to turn on Buchholz, until the recent diagnosis. Besides, I thought it was a shot at Mazz, who wouldn't shut up about it last year.

Well, hours ago he tweeted that he was listening to the Fillmore Auditorium concert playlist from '66-'68. So, by now he's stoned out of his mind, and capping off the night by watching reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Ah, yes. How could I have been so blind? The answer was right in front of me: WEEI and WRKO both really, really suck. (The AM thing is surely not a factor in their phallic radio singal)

Is this real, or is someone having a little fun with MS Paint? If it's the former, I wonder why the EEI pattern looks like this while the others are fairly symmetrical.

Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

Listening to any local sports radio right now is sadomasochism. I can't really empathize with anyone who chooses to do it. Just dust off the iPod and revisit some music you haven't listened to in a while.

"H" is the symbol for hydrogen, which is the lightest element. He is thus referring to the lightest player on the Red Sox roster, Dustin Pedroia. You also notice the lack of punctuation, or "no period", which is to say, no blood, or, no injury. What he is saying is that Dustin Pedroia is now...

Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

It was a decent column by Mazz standards, but the big problem I have is that he doesn't at all mention his Blyleven non-vote. He's in a ~25% minority amongst his peers there, he should at least back it up with a couple of sentences. Say what you want about Jon Heyman, but at least he's...

Toucher getting exposed a bit this morning, arguing that Jack Morris is a Hall of Famer while Bert Blyleven isn't. I think that's the main reason Wallach is in the studio. Neither T nor R are really baseball guys, and Wallach (while grating at times) adds some value there.

Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

I'm getting a kick out of Felger's Quixotic attempt to drum up criticism of the Patriots this afternoon. Really grasping at straws, it's hilarious. "They should have drafted X and Y in 2009". Not much mention of their 2010 draft, for whatever reason.

Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

It's totally obvious that Mazz had written the majority of that column as the trade appeared to be falling apart. Notice the late (10:00 AM) submission? His original front office-bashing column would have run with the morning print. When the Sox closed the deal, all he needed to do was...

Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

But, you should. Just to reiterate a recent post above: Some of those points might be hyperbole just for the sake of boredom aversion, but a few of those things just highlight a misunderstanding of some of the more basic aspects of the game of baseball. It's going to suck if the Gonzalez...

Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

When I turn off the radio, it's still a little frustrating to know that one of the most prominent baseball columnists in Boston is taking such idiotic positions, even if he doesn't honestly believe them. It would be more understandable if this were Eric Wilbur or some other knucklehead blogger...
