The Red Sox and the New Practice of Baseball

Watching a game earlier in the week I thought the umpires appeared very focused perhaps due to replay. We'll certainly find out if some umpires become less attentive. I don't think it would be a wise move. My biggest beef with umpires is their positioning to make the proper call.

Predicting and Opining on the Opening Day CFer; and SPOILER: It's Sizemore

Nava has a family now. There is a carrot being dangled in front of him and I believe he will respond with several good seasons at the plate.

MLB: Three Little Birds sing too long

If they want to speed things up just lop off a ball & a strike. Full count, 2-1.

2014 Season Expectations and Fan Satisfaction

I'm content with the Red Sox contending for the playoffs every year. I'm for positive consistency. During the regular season I enjoy seeing young players grow into their roles and veterans fulfill expectations or surprise. As for the 2014 Red Sox I do not expect a quick start however I do...

    Revisiting The Peavy/Iggy Trade

I thought I was in tune with The universe yesterday until a redneck in a white Chevy pickup truck blasted my Porsche at a 90 degree angle leaving me sitting atop an embankment. After sleeping on it I'm sure I'm living in one universe and he's living in another.

    Projecting Sizemore

Kilted, take heart. Grady showed some restraint chasing a ball off the wall that Nava retrieved on the carom. I thought he would go crashing after that one too, but he used his head, stopped and looked back at the infield like, sorry, I guess I could have tried to run through the wall for that...

    Projecting Sizemore

Due to the performance of Grady, etc. that was one of the most gratifying ST game I have ever watched.

    Projecting Sizemore

All the doubters will feel vindicated when Grady makes a catch against the Cardinals bouncing off the CF wall and shatters into 50 pieces.

    David Ortiz Extended!

Essentially, he's complaining about the intentional construction of the roster that is not so reliant on many superstars like himself.  The formula worked last year and my man Ortiz may not realize he's criticizing the current Red Sox formula for success.  Maybe he misses the prospect of...

    Projecting Sizemore

Rather than projecting numbers I simply project a pleasant surprise for this gifted athlete. I believe he will eventually perform at the plate just like seasoned Grady because I want to believe his athletic ability is still intact. Grady will smell success once he gets his timing down. He is...

    Extending Lester

That may well be what Cherington does, but the risk is big annual pay at say 5 years. The Sox have appeared to have shied away from huge deals like this. If it works out without injury everyone will be happy, but so much can go wrong with a starting pitcher with wear. Some answers will come soon...

    Spring Training 2014

I have no idea either who he swings like, so I'm just going to refer to Brentz as, "Hammer."

    Spring Training 2014

I like the sound of the ball flying off the bat of Sox ml OF Bryce Brentz. It was probably a lucky guess, but I heard a hit coming off the bat when Brentz hit a ground ball past the second baseman and into right field for a op-f single. Looks like Brentz has some ML ability.

    Extending Lester

I certainly respect everyone' s opinion, so I would prefer to retain Lester at any price, however, each and every salary impacts the other 24. I simply favor the strongest Red Sox team for the best value to retain the flexibility to improve.

    Extending Lester

Hriniak, I'm not saying I would not have signed Pedro to that deal because circumstances dictate acquisitions.  Al ? posted just before my second post and it was evidently deleted.  The reason I would make an offer is because Lester stated he would take a hometown discount and of course because...
