Chelsea 2019-20: Putting the 'sick' in Pulisic

Werner was always going to be a luxury at Liverpool. In the pre-covid19 world they expected to raise the money by sales of Shaqiri and Harry Wilson .. that would have offset Werner’s release clause. That’s not happening now. i guess it’s being prudent .. If things turn to shite again it will be...

Perhaps I should have embedded it in <python> </python> tags ..

June NHL News - we gonna play?

So .. Given the border may still be (hopefully to tell the truth) closed , guessing the hub cities are both likely to be American ?

June NHL News - we gonna play?

hell of a lot more than the Bs managed . Just sayin’ Mind you, I was just a kid when the Leafs won 4 cups in the sixties so I’m certainly not revelling in past heroics. Still , a glorious - if distant - past is better than none at all. I don’t think the number of rounds particularly diminishes...

Chelsea 2019-20: Putting the 'sick' in Pulisic

there was a report yesterday that Werner had already agreed personal terms with Liverpool on £140k per week .. which seemed about right given there wage structure. there have been reports in the Echo for weeks that Liverpool were reluctant to pay the release clause .. thinking they could...

We don’t care .. 13 Stanley Cups fart in your general direction

    Our ownership group

You would have thought that , after their spectacular own goal with initially using the government furlough program at Liverpool, they’d be a little more sensitive to PR gaffes .. sadly, that does not appear to be the case. How much money is this going to save them - versus the vitriol being...

Covid-19 & the 2019-20 season (or, Can a rabona inspire us?)

For the life of me I can’t understand why anyone would be arguing for null and void in good faith. Let’s just pretend the past thirty odd games never happened .. they are completely meaningless. Yeah .. that’s fair .. the fact we are dead last in those games has no merit. Solves everything ! if...

Covid-19 & the 2019-20 season (or, Can a rabona inspire us?)

well .. one assumes they were tested before any training commenced .. this is actually really good news as they tested all the players, coaches and team staff. so .. you merely quarantine the misfortunate personnel and carry on. What worries me is they are only testing a couple of times a week...

Covid-19 & the 2019-20 season (or, Can a rabona inspire us?)

So .. it’s looking like the Premier League is planning it’s return for June 19th .. the neutral sites bad idea has been abandoned .. however relegation/promotion still hasn’t been ironed out as it’s unclear if the Championship can finish their season or simply decide the standings on a weighted...

Joe Posnanski's 60 Greatest Baseball Moments

I think I had, at one time a 16rpm disk .. that being said my record player had a 16rpm setting. It was great for learning fiddle tunes as it was almost the same tuning (a little flat) as a standard LP - but half the speed.

    Newcastle United 19-20: Fundamentally Indeterminate

Just finished that .. it’s an excellent overview. Sadly money will probably win out. Although I’m not sure any of the top six wants another City on their hands. The BeIn pirated cable problem would seem to be a bigger issue at the board level than a mere human rights PR hit.

Covid-19 & the 2019-20 season (or, Can a rabona inspire us?)

There’s an article in the Athletic today talking about this stuff. The writes are of the opinion that clubs can’t force reluctant players to play. The muted suggestion was for any recalcitrant players to donate their weekly wages to a charity of their choice. Of course, this is going to result...

Covid-19 & the 2019-20 season (or, Can a rabona inspire us?)

To me, the return of the Premier League in early June looks complete pie in the sky at this point. Sure, the govt. is on-board and the club owners are desperate to get back. But the players ? Being locked up in team hotels for six weeks .. - away from their families - only being let out to train...
