    Theo’s back????!!!!

It's not ignored, it's seen in the context of losing Bogaerts in free agency at almost exactly the same time (the Devers contract came less than 1 month after Bogaerts signed with the Padres). And with the dark cloud of trading a popular and hugely talented player a few years earlier still...

    Theo’s back????!!!!

There aren't any negatives with bringing Theo into the organization, his resume speaks for itself. And yet despite joining an organization that fields a last place baseball team - the sport which is his demonstrated area of expertise - his "most immediate" task is to focus on the Liverpool...

    Theo’s back????!!!!

Sure, with the non-Yamamoto top two free agent pitchers still on the market, "it's too late" to do anything about 2024. Got it. This is no surprise of course, the "payroll will probably be lower" quote already told us what was coming. Unfortunately it sure sounds like official confirmation that...

    Theo’s back????!!!!

I'm not as optimistic as most of you. Theo on board is good, no doubt about it. Worst case it's all window dressing, a "look at this" puppet show meant to alleviate the justifiably large dark cloud hovering over this organization. Best case he helps Breslow chart a path for an earlier road to...

    Berj Najarian Leaving Team

Berj's office had a door into Bill's. He was literally "the gatekeeper", and he's spent 24+ years fending off people that Bill doesn't want to deal with. Not much different between that job and the Admin for any top level CEO. That also means there's a high level of "style fit" necessary to be...

Is Mac Jones the biggest bust in Patriots history?

An interesting Mac Jones anecdote in Reiss' latest piece: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39349153/could-patriots-coach-jerod-mayo-revive-mac-jones-career-bill-belichick Belichick was clearly done with Jones based on his bottom-line actions in the Jan. 7 regular-season finale, when he...

End of an Era: Bill Belichick and Patriots to part ways

That's a fair analysis, but Bill says he made an offer (which may or may not have been posturing - we don't know) and RK confirms it. I was trying to refute the idea that there was a discussion on reduced roles and they couldn't come to an agreement. The comments from RK don't support that.

End of an Era: Bill Belichick and Patriots to part ways

Valid points. Since the comment is now included in other posts, I gave it a strike-through rather than a delete. That said, the basis for that opinion was the quoted comment from RK: "It just wouldn't work, in my opinion." That doesn't sound like there was a discussion. It was Bob's opinion...

End of an Era: Bill Belichick and Patriots to part ways

No, it was my attempt to summarize the text quoted above. If i delete the summary, would that improve the post? Honest question.

Great response. I provide actual quotes and you have an opinion. Excellent work.

End of an Era: Bill Belichick and Patriots to part ways

I think those reports have been misunderstood. In the follow-on press conference, RK specifically states that Bill came to him with the proposal to "relinquish some of his duties", but that Bob felt it "wouldn't work". To me, that clearly implies that the decision had already been made. Bill was...

    The next OC?

This is an excellent point. With rare exceptions, Rookie QBs take a while to develop. It's bad enough the new guy will have to rely upon what passes for an O-line in New England, but having to learn a new scheme every year or two simply adds needless degree of difficulty. Add a certain level of...
