    Red Sox in season discussion

Probably won't be a better time to sign him to a long-term deal. Not gonna get much of a discount since it's only 100 AB. But I've been really impressed with his defense (positive defensive fWAR!) so we really need to lock him up

    What does 2023 look like?

Dare I saw McGuire's been great. Really like the way he calls a game. Just ushered young Bello through a tough inning. Tied for 10th in WAR/PA for a catcher.

Ha I remember watching that play! Totally endeared me to the guy. But can't blame him for not liking 1st--while it's often a place where you stick bad fielders that doesn't mean everyone is good at it (e.g. Franchy lol)

    What does 2023 look like?

Kiké, Pivetta, Schwarber, Whitlock, Wacha, even Story acquired at great values. Team made ALCS in 2021 without selling many assets. As you said Mookie deal wasn't really on him. And has taken farm system from 30th in baseball to 11th-13th (depending on source). Hard to say he's doing a *bad* job.

    What does 2023 look like?

Was watching Phillies the other night with Schwarbs miked up in LF and he said he was so happy to be back in the OF because he hated playing 1st. I'm sure it factored into his decision.

Wife's family is what I heard, actually. From a quite reliable source :)

    What does 2023 look like?

Schwarber's wife is from the Philly area and it was one of his target destinations. He loves it there from what I can tell--I think he was just being nice about the Boston thing

    What does 2023 look like?

Agreed. I guess we can assume DH can be relatively cheaply filled with the Vogelbachs of the world.

    What does 2023 look like?

I don't know anything about the guy but if we think Hosmer is worth 1 WAR I'd take that over a 25 year-old that's pitched <35 innings since 2019. I'm not sure Casas is above replacement level after OPS+ing 115 at AAA (he's still 22). Can Casas defend?

    What does 2023 look like?

I think it was a desperation move that came together quickly when Hosmer rejected a trade to WAS. I won't claim to know the SDP's financial situation but when Soto and Bell came over they had a roster crunch if nothing else and the Sox were happy to jump in. Good move for short term and...

    What does 2023 look like?

Maybe you don't know what a sock puppet is, but wouldn't the sock puppet be defending the owners? Who would pay for a sock puppet that is trying to get the team to spend more? Scott Boras? You think he's got agents on SoSH? Anyway look at my original posts in 2020 and at least I'm consistent...
