    11/13/2021 - Celtics @ Cavaliers

I understand the frustration that this team isn’t winning more but it feels like they are right on the cusp of pulling it all together. They have found a real defensive identity the last 2 weeks, and the 2 biggest issues are that Tatum is playing like Nov/Dec 2019 Tatum and they are 1 or 1.5...

Great find. They are also 3rd in the last 2 weeks (since the second Wiz game) which matches the eye test for when the defense started looking significantly better and they started noticeably playing harder.

And then gave up 35 fourth quarter points and lose for the second time to OKC.

Coincidentally, I believe it’s Celtic coach Damon Stoudamire who went 5-21 from deep and finished with 18 points in a game in 2005. I just looked at most 3s attempted in a game and scanned for low point totals. Edit: and just because I found it interesting, he actually had a triple double while...

I’m surprised it didn’t get shown on replay. But there was a play in the third where Nesmith grabbed a rebound, threw a 3/4 court pass to Romeo who had his layup blocked, but somehow Nesmith was there to follow the miss and get a bucket via goaltend. Incredible hustle and the type of energy play...

I think you can go back to the second Wizards game to see consistent defensive effort. The one exception being the Bulls 4th quarter but outside of that it’s been 15 out of 16 quarters (plus 2 overtimes) of really good effort. They will win a lot of games this way, especially once Tatum gets going.

    Jayson Tatum 2021-22: Leap Year

Do you know if there a number of games into a season at which we might be able to reliably see if this is actually continuing this year, or if this is the model giving too much weight to post-COVID, bad D JT? I am obviously hopeful it’s the latter, but would love to know when the new season’s...

    Jayson Tatum 2021-22: Leap Year

72 points on 52 shots, 10 of 23 from 3, 16 rebounds, 10 assists, and only 3 turnovers the last 2 games. He seems to have found his rhythm. I thought he actually could’ve been more selfish early in overtime as it looked like he passed up a couple of shots.

I think the benefit of having DS play during crunch time is it gives the team a third ball handler and pushes Marcus down a rung so the ball tends to “find” him less which makes it less likely he hoists an ill advised shot. It’s sort of like when the bubble team had Hayward and Marcus played the...

Gorman going full Marv Albert so far this game, getting only half of the names right. Is this just early season and getting used to all the new guys? Are they actually in Houston?

Westbrook with a nice -23 out of the gate and generally appeared useless on both ends of the court.

    Jayson Tatum 2021-22: Leap Year

Absolutely. I think there is probably a combination of new coach and offense, new teammates, and new individual skills that are making him look less than his usual self in the preseason. As he gets more comfortable with all of that in the next few weeks he is going to become the usual monster we...

    Romeo Langford - Pick #14

Maybe not the right place for it, but your comment reminded me of something I’ve been thinking of. One of the things I was hoping we would see from Ime is a greater variety of defenses on picks. The switch everything defense (on and off ball) all the time seems to be the only thing we have seen...

Langford or Nesmith: Who will have the most positive impact on the 21-22 season?

We’ve seen a few guys lately take big year 3 leaps (TL, Tatum, Rozier) and it looks like we may be seeing the same from Romeo. If he can stay healthy, I think he ends up assuming the JRich role (first wing off the bench, second/third option when one of the Jays are on the bench) by the end of...

    Romeo Langford - Pick #14

Well since Carson Edward’s only has 139 3pa in his career I guess we can’t come to any conclusions on him yet.
