Cal Quantrill wasn’t good last season, and wasn’t particularly good in the minors either. Uninspiring K/BB numbers, pretty bad WHIP, probably not a guy who belongs in the AL East. I’d even say it’s questionable he belongs in the MLB.
So using 2019 as a template, and assuming each team chooses the opponent with the worst record, the first round of the playoffs would have been...
Astros (107 wins) - Bye
Yankees (103 wins) vs Red Sox (84 wins)
Twins (101 wins) vs Indians (93 wins)
Athletics (97 wins) vs Rays (96 wins)
Still not happy Mookie is going - even if it "had to be done". The idiotic Sale/Eovaldi contracts made this a foregone conclusion.
But now that this is done - I'd prefer if the Sox signed Puig to a 1-2 year deal, and traded Verdugo for cost controlled pitching.
I get it.
But I’m admittedly bitter and petty over it. I don’t want this trade to happen. I never wanted this trade to happen. And I hope this trade completely falls apart. I hate this trade and might stop following baseball because of it.
Agreed. Fuck it.
I want no part of Verdugo at this point, and I just assume 2020 is fucked to begin with. Just walk away.
Maybe the Dodgers panic and up the offer, maybe not. I’m not even sure what I want anymore. Whatever.
In itself, would Betts and a 50% subsidized Price for Verdugo and May make sense for both sides?
If May is going to MIN, then I really don't know what we're getting back that makes any amount of sense.
I was already pessimistic about the 2020 Red Sox after the horrible performances of Sale/Price/Eovaldi last season.
Then they announced they’d like to massively slash payroll.
Then Cora gets fired.
Now they’re going to trade Mookie because Dombrowski inexplicably threw wads of cash at Sale...
