Tatum out 10-14 Days per Covid Policy

Celts have the max 17 players under contract, if they brought 1 in they would have to waive 1.

Dan Shaughnessy: Taking a dump in your mouth one column at a time

I arrived early for a Red Sox game a few years ago. Shank and Steve Lyons were together on the field chatting. I wished I had a hand grenade.

Baseball Writer Roger Angell Turns 100

This article by Roger Angell about the 1981 college game between St. John's, pitched by Frank Viola, and Yale, pitched by Ron Darling, is a classic. Unfortunately I can't find a better link, this one isn't easy to read. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1981/07/20/the-web-of-the-game

    Red Sox Trade Deadline Thread

The Red Sox have a greater need for pitching at this time than for 2B. I would prefer, given a choice, if a player is being overpaid currently that he be a pitcher.

If the season gets to September 1, the Red Sox luxury tax resets

According to Pete Abe the official time is 4:00 PM Monday, just a bit over 32 hours from now. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/08/29/sports/baseball-was-slow-get-board-with-protests/

    Let's talk about this ballclub.

I disagree. Roenicke can't be blamed for being stuck with primarily minor leaguers and castoffs for pitchers, but he can be held responsible for the constant stream of mental errors, physical errors, and players looking unprepared and uninterested in being on the field. These are the things that...

If the season gets to September 1, the Red Sox luxury tax resets

According to ESPN https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29525547/mlb-players-union-oks-playoff-expansion-2020-sources-say Do we know yet whether this means only collection of tax is suspended or whether this season doesn't count towards luxury tax purposes? If the latter, bad news for the Sox.

    COVID-19 and the Red Sox

Not a good sign that MLS already had to cancel today's opening game, followed by cancellation of another game, due to one of the teams having too many players with Covid.

MLB 2020: We're Playing, but We Can't Agree on Anything

Seems to me that it will be pretty easy to figure out who goes on the covid IL. In most if not all cases anyone put on the regular IL is listed/announced as having been put there with a "strained" whatever or a "broken" whatever. If there's no reason given it's likely due to covid although we...

Would you feel safe attending a game at Fenway tonight?

CDC Director Redfield yesterday estimated that 92-95% of people in this country are still susceptible to the virus.

Would you feel safe attending a game at Fenway tonight?

Season ticket holder, no way I'm going to Fenway this year even if they allow fans in, I'll see about next year.

MLB 2020: We're Playing, but We Can't Agree on Anything

I hope you're right but death rates so far have lagged behind positive cases because for people recently diagnosed it can take a few weeks for them to get sick enough to go to the hospital and eventually die.

MLB 2020: We're Playing, but We Can't Agree on Anything

I see this as more of a win for the players and more of a loss for the owners. Until the owners' final offer, all of their previous offers were for about 31% of total player salary. Now the players will make 37% of total salary assuming a 60 game schedule. Since total player salary is about $4...
